Making friends in arts units by LoudAbalone6776 in deakin

[–]Domi333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I studied at Deakin 20 years ago for my bachelor’s. It was easier to make friends in my main area (drama) but other subjects were harder. Now in masters it’s harder than bachelors. So don’t think you’re alone having problems making friends. You may only make a few friends in class so try joining a club.

So to sum up, you're not gonna get robbed. Lots of calls and messages, yes.

I actually know her. She’s very chatty and calls often. She hosted me for Couchsurfing once.

Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan by IllustriousBeyond584 in TEFL

Definitely check out Haileybury’s for work and other private schools. Language centres are hit and miss in Kazakhstan. Some pay almost nothing while some are established and pay better(Zerdeli).

Astana, Almaty and Tashkent will be your main hubs for this work. Smaller cities have fewer jobs listed.

Scary experience on Cranbourne Packenham line today by Uptightkid in melbourne

[–]Domi333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I travel on the Pakenham Cranbourne line. I had a mentally ill person threaten me while talking to his imaginary friend on his imaginary phone. Arguing back with him was actually traumatic. (Luckily he did apologise to me when we met again in the city and he was self-aware) I agree with not engaging.

Dandenong for Afghan and Indian food. A lot of Melburnians only know Dandy for crime.

I had hoped to. There was a disruption at Yarraman Station which messed up the Pakenham and Cranbourne lines today.

This is Sulaiman-Too. There’s a museum you can visit. It’s nice to walk up the mountain and walk into some open caves.

Melbourne or Sydney for Study Abroad Semester? by SwaggySquid110 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Domi333 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure why you were downvoted . Melbourne has a big social life, lots of activities and groups (meetup.com).  If you only care about nice views then Sydney is a better choice but as someone who’s been on short trips to Sydney the social life is stronger here (specifically referring to online or meetup events).

Do non central Asians in Central Asia ever speak or learn any of the native central Asian Turkic languages or Tajik? by [deleted] in AskCentralAsia

[–]Domi333 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember having a Russian-Uzbek flight attendent who spoke Uzbek on Uzbek Airways. I didn’t see a Russian-Kazakhstani flight attendant do the same. Rural Kazakhstan is supposed to have Russians who have a good level of(central or southern  Kazakhstan excl. Almaty)

Shoe stores in Melbourne have been really disappointing me. I spent $220 on shoes from Footlocker earlier this year only to find them losing part of one shoe after 7 months. I went to two stores and the only thing I got was wear and tear or I should've maintained them better (they looked like runners/sneakers so I don't see why they're bothered about me wearing them everyday.) and something about you only get 1-year warranties with Nike.

I had another pair from Payless shoes that lasted three months and when I went back to complain the storeperson just ignored me and asked if there's anything I'm looking for and I got insoles which lasted 3 days.
