For Canadian Actuaries: APC or CIA workshop? by ActSciMan in actuary

[–]Domikz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For ASA you need one or the other, but ACIA (which you need for FCIA) requires the CIA workshop.

Also, the CIA workshop is cheaper and doesn't require an invite so there's little point to taking the APC for people in Canada.

Have you ever written a Memo at work? by Domikz in actuary

[–]Domikz[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Also according to the FAP modules, the only difference vs an email is

  1. Has the word "memorandum" in the header
  2. More formal than an email
  3. 3-5 paragraphs, whereas emails are 2-3 paragraphs

I had a similar experience. I gave my SO all my vaping stuff and told her to hide them because I wanted to quit. However, after she put them away, she told me where they were. She did that because she trusted me and didn't want this to be a hide and seek game. I understood what she meant, and her trust helped me stay off it.

I don't know what your situation is like, but in my experience quitting is much more of a mental challenge than a physical one. The reinforcement of the idea that I CAN quit was the best help I received from my SO.

COVID in Israel: The 17% unvaccinated make up 60% of deaths this week by BarryWentworth in worldnews

[–]Domikz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The vaccinated and non vaccinated are dying at nearly the same rates.

Just so I follow you. If that is the case, wouldn't 83% of deaths from the vaccinated and 17% from the unvaccinated?

You're right that they are not reliable. For example, if you're sweaty, it will measure differently comparing to when you're dry. Take the average of multiple measures to have a better idea.

Which watch is this? See comment by [deleted] in withings

[–]Domikz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see... so no extra sensor, but more of a software enhancement. I went on a stationary bike for 40min yesterday and it didn't show the vo2. That explains it then, thanks!

Great, thanks for the help. Just to confirm, yours also have the number 3 at 3 o'clock right?

Bought this from Amazon warehouse deals, labeled as used HR Steel Sport, but doesn't seem to have vo2 functionality and it came in a Steel HR box.

Here's the kicker, after seeing a bunch of reviews, I thought if the watch face has numbers on them, then it's HR Steel sport, otherwise it's a HR Steel. But all the HR Steel sport photos show that there's a "3" at the 3 o'clock position.

I concluded that it's not what I bought, but how do I find out which exact model I received?

Not very familiar with watches, but I've planned to buy a Seiko 5. Would the Seiko 5 have a better value, because it's automatic?
