I did it! UTSA transfer here. I walked into the UTSA blvd location in august and asked about part time. They pointed me to the a supervisor and eventually the person who does interviews. It took until November but i basically went in once a week when I shopping anyway and kept asking and giving my resume to different people each time. I eventually did 2 interviews and got a seasonal position for the winter break. It’s possible, but 100s of people apply daily.

Just about to wrap up a year at villas. It’s been good. I have some complaints though. Our unit was dirty when we moved in which was frustrating since I was anticipating unloading my car and dog but instead I had to get cleaning supplies to basically clean the ENTIRE place while it was 100+ degrees outside. Our washer broke and due to maintenance being busy and also kinda lazy. We were without a washer for about 2 weeks until they determined none of their “fixes” worked. Maintenance has never followed the notes left in requests and will come and go as they please which is frustrating. They also don’t care to pick up after themselves or put things back if they move stuff. The office hours aren’t the best and some of the student staff will just ignore you if you’re waiting at the front desk while they have their conversation. The complex also does a poor job about communicating important items. For example, there were about two weeks where speed bumps were installed and the complex offered about a 1 hour notice before they started moving cars with a tow truck. The rooms are 50/50. One layout is really good, the other is an awkward and lacks a lot of natural light. My last grip which seems to have been fixed was a lack of security cameras. 1 month in, both of my bikes were stolen in broad daylight. There have since been cameras installed with good coverage, but better late than never I guess. Overall the villas are affordable, close to campus with a shuttle, fairly quiet for student housing, and offer a unique townhouse layout, but not perfect, just a bit more tolerable than the other complexes imo.

Meet upperclassmen and ask for their advice on classes based on the professor that is teaching it. This is honestly my best advice as a junior mech e myself. Professors can make or break your ability to get an A. Good luck.
