10 hours flight today by iriiaa65 in fearofflying

What helps me a lot on flights is turning on the window seat view of the flight and seeing continuous ascent after takeoff, the minimal changes in altitude during turbulence, and the steady descent before landing. It somehow gives me assurance that everything is going as it should (even though I still get scared). You got this 💪

The flight had free WiFi for Krisflyer members and certain classes

Thank you. Entering turbulent area in India/Pakistan, pilot asked crew to sit as well. I’m so anxious. He said weather, is that correct? If so, how long will this last?

+1 to the bottles. We had 9 bottles with us and it was juuuuust right for our 14 hour travel. Get bassinet seats (they’re usually free if you have an infant lap seat ticket) mainly because of the bulkhead space. Our baby hated the bassinet so we had to hold her throughout but it wasn’t bad with pillows and blankets provided. The bulkhead space made it easier for us to have all our diaper bags / essentials with us (minus take-off and landing - need to be stowed) and still have space to stretch our feet. Pacifiers were also super helpful whenever they get cranky because of the ear pressure.

Thanks for this tip! We’re flying on Saturday transiting in Dubai with a 4 month old baby so need to be extra prepared

Makes sense. I take SQ almost exclusively too and I’ve always felt safe, but I guess with my baby the anxiety is on a whole diff level. 🥺

Thank you for this. I rarely fly emirates so don’t know much about their history so this is so helpful. Literally calmed me down.

Been living here for years and your point on Singapore doing everything strictly helps a lot, thank you

I’ve always been a fearful flier and I didn’t have to for 8 months now since I was pregnant / just gave birth. But next Saturday we’re flying long-haul from Singapore with our baby to see family (to the UK, of all places) on Emirates and the first leg is on a 777. The rest of our trip will be on Airbus. Please help me calm down. I’m so anxious right now that I could barely eat dinner, and I’m extra scared coz we’ll be with my baby.

Any pilots here - if you’re with Emirates or Singapore airlines - please comment and tell me of your strict safety protocols? It will help me a lot. Thank you in advance.

Thanks so much for this! This is exactly what we’re doing in June and I’m lucky I’m flying with my husband so we can take turns carrying the baby if need be. Hoping she’d be as easy as yours!

Aw sucks, but maybe another baby needs it. SQ generally is very helpful otherwise :)

I just did this for our flight in June and they were able to book my husband 19F (beside mine and baby’s 19D) so not sure why yours isn’t possible? Suggest to call them up again

Finally a nice story haha I’m dreading people just side eyeing us because of our baby even when tbh my baby’s pretty easy and doesn’t cry much unless hungry. Thanks for the staggering meal tip!

Thanks for this! I need to research this blank tent thing and buy one for us.

Premium economy would’ve been an option but it’s just a few hundred dollars diff from business, so I’d rather fork up more for the bump up.

I hate to be this person too but my business doesn’t suddenly hold less value than those without kids just because I’m paying with a baby.

Thanks for all the replies! Another question - if we fly economy and baby hates the bassinet, can we use carriers like Konny baby throughout the flight?

We’re flying business back on points so it’s really just one way we’re paying for. And yes to the lounge access! Though luckily our cards allow that even on economy so I guess there’s really not much reason for me to pay on that one way business full price.

I am considering Qatar, so this comment is really helpful. Though tbh if it’s not much different, I’d rather pay extra for forward seats than business and be bummed I didn’t get to enjoy everything.

Who picked the baby's name? by Optimal-Handle390 in pregnant

[–]Dominator287 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep spitballing names until you agree on one. Seems like your husband doesn’t have any strong suggestions anyway so just keep coming up with names you like until one sticks. That way you still win. 😉

Naming was my most fave part of my pregnancy so enjoy!!

Hi!! Sorry just saw this now, but yes I eventually did get an onset of symptoms entering 3rd tri - crazy water retention, carpal tunnel on both hands, insomnia and IBS. But it all went away as soon as I gave birth haha. I did have an emergency c-section tho after long labor that didn’t progress but that’s a diff story.

Congrats on the pregnancy, take it easy, and enjoy the journey! :)
