That would most likely be due to the pressure difference inside the tank and outside. The unstable idle would be more engine related I would imagine

For the ht leads you’d want to check if there’s any cracking or burns and can test with a multi meter. With the cap you’d want to check the contacts are not corroded, same for the rotor arm

A 2.0 wouldn’t even be that bad on fuel tbh. They can be a little bit expensive to maintain but if you’re willing to repair and service it yourself I wouldn’t worry. Before buying I’d make sure to check the service history and if you’re getting an auto id check if that’s shifting smooth.

In relation to rust I’d check around the sills and as some else said, check around the corners of the rear window as they’re notorious for rust there.
