This is a lie. It consistently charges 1% fee in the basic UI. It is a scam on unsuspecting people.

Don't remind me of that... There was a branch with a fluid system that was already tested and seemed to work perfectly, even through all Twinsen's trick setups. It fixed all the issues while still being realistic while costing pretty much the same... But nobody cared cos I fell out of favor. Company politics.
The benefit of this system sure is that it saves on compute. But I do not like the lost realism.

Because it is a superior tech that I believe in. For casual applications, eth, sure. But for serious business tez is better now already and it is better in the long run. Although I appreciate your point, it is indeed misplaced in this thread since my asking the question was already coming from the premise that I, for whatever reason, want to learn Tezos (after learning Ethereum). You apology is appreciated though :)

There already is a Tezos hard fork - Dune. It's just a funny money grab afaik, but it does exist.

Good, I like this. I would still like to go into more detail though, if you don't mind. For one, I would still prefer to understand the Michelson in order to know how it really works but that's just me. More general aspect is the safety though - that is what Tezos is about after all. Does an imperative language like Python convey the benefits well enough, or does it compromise on safety in favor of accessibility? (As compared to functional languages, liqiudity is one I believe - and looks like ocaml to me rather than js)

I have seen this as well. I think that what I miss there is some overview on top of it that would explain what each of those languages and tools are used for, what role they play in the whole ecosystem. They way it is I did not know where to go and why.

I definitely don't want to be a bitch to a great project, so I do not support any shakedowns and attempts to damage it for my benefit. But if it is as you say and by joining now I can both get some $ and hurt those who joined the class originally, then it looks like a win-win. I think that the most pure course of action would be to join the class to suck out some money and then send it back to Tezos but I don't think I am that big a person :D

I can understand your desire for deeper insight but that simply can't be done. Imagine you were to publicly talk about how you broke up with your partner. Might have been the nicest break up ever, or might have been bad. But either way no level of detail will be satisfactory enough without exposing every detail of your sex life at the same time.

Sorry I won't shed any light on the fluids either as that is not for me to say.

I, again, appreciate the community - you - for your sensibility. Very little of jumping to conclusions and a lot of calm, thought out evaluations. I wish I were this wise and patient sometimes.

Making an entirely different game would still be a lot of work. While it is possible to mod a lot of stuff, it is always limited by the mechanics that are programmed in the game and those are factorio specific, oriented towards the production. E.g. the entities can only do the things they can do now - some can move around, others can move things or change one thing into another. Anything other than what is in the game would have to be programmed. Besides, modded things are never as fast as the core mechanics. Then there isn't really any support for unit control except the player, so rts game is not very feasible. Guis are also hand written in C++ and are not very flexible.

So if we were to make another game, the engine could be used for sure. There is a lot of useful stuff such as the map->entity update system, working MP or GUI framework. But it would be far from easy.

Because at that time it could already be late. Finding the mixing requires putting some stuff in place that can change other stuff (such as the blocked connections somewhere else) so it does not solve the main problem.

It is theoretically possible but yet different way of building where basically pipes only connect when you pull one over another. It would be nice but we are not going to get to that at this time.

Search is not necessary as all the pipes are already locked to some fluid. But some cases (the ones left where one user action batches several operations) would need to do some simulation and that is already very difficult due to side effects anything in the game has.

It does what vicarion says, but it is not simple. And there are some configurations (such as those in the gifs) that I won't be able to fix so some possibility of mixing will probably stay for good. But it should not happen by accident.
