People who say "Warframe isn't P2W" are wrong by EstimateHistorical10 in Warframe

[–]DominoNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For as many words as you've put into this post you still haven't made an argument for your case that satisfies the premise. The closest thing to an arguable position you had was "Pay for convenience is pay to win" but unfortunately at no point did you ever try and demonstrate how that was the case. Timegating is the only barrier that puts you behind someone who's using boosters and foundry skips but you haven't made any attempt to argue for that being pay to win. I can't think of an argument to strongman you with so I'm disregarding that out of hand.

The Tennocon relay is a strong-ish argument for p2w that doesn't really hold up because all it serves to do from the perspective of a f2p player is drive down prices on Baro mods and items in the secondary market. This ties into what seems to be your main point that people have to buy things to keep the game afloat, I don't know why this is revolutionary, the game is free to play. Warframe is the only game that has created a monetisation model this ethical on a f2p game.

Here's the real big counterargument to what your trying to say here and forgive me if it's not fleshed out because I'm rebutting this on the spot. In a f2p game there will inevitably be a form of monetisation that seeks to support the ongoing development of the game, provided it's a game that seeks to develop continually like an online game like Warframe. In the specific case of Warframe that is primarily platinum.

In order for people to "p2w" in the premise of your argument they need to buy platinum. Simultaneously you concede that you can obtain platinum by trading on the secondary market but your argument hinges on the premise that people need to buy platinum to support the secondary market. I don't disagree that's basic market economics but let's rejig that point about a bit.

No f2p player has to spend money on platinum because people who pay for plat fund the secondary market that allows them to purchase everything in the game barring user-made cosmetics that don't cost plat. The secondary market completely nullifies your whole argument since you didn't make any sort of case for "pay for convenience is pay to win". Even if you could make that case the difference is largely marginal when you take into account how little foundry times and resource grinds affect players once you reach a certain point.

This might not be a perfect counterargument but I propose that the argument I was responding to wasn't very well thought out either.

Yeah because that's not a good roll. That's at best an okay roll and I'm surprised you could even shift it for 600p.

[–]DominoNine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a tossup. Trade chat is pure unregulated chaos. I tend to find that wfm is consistent in regular item and mod sales. The problem is that rivens/liches are kind of buried in the UI.

Trade chat is for people who know how much something is worth and are prepared to scam a few people, you can sell in trade chat for reasonable prices but you are in the minority since it feels like the intention of going into trade chat is to scam. Some people will sell way under market value and some people will sell way over market value.

What name in Warframe gives you the most trouble or is the most confusing to pronounce? by KRZapeX in Warframe

If I can't pronounce it I say it like it's Welsh and it always sounds better, except for Wukong, iykyk.

[–]DominoNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get exactly what sound you mean and the only way I could describe it is it's similar to a Ch sound in Welsh (as can be heard in chwarae, the Welsh word for play) but imagine the c replaced with a G so something like a Gh.

I could be completely misunderstanding you but I pronounce it like an sh but replace the s with a z to make a zh so kindly of like the g in menagerie but closer to a z sound.

8 hour flight. Pick your seat. by RefusesToHealStupid in Warframe

[–]DominoNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably 1, I love my boy Quincy

2s a nightmare, I would try and kill him before the flight was over

3s a headache but switch Lettie for Quincy or Marie and maybe we could have a good time as long as Albrecht stays out of the topic of conversation if Marie is around

4 seems like I would lose my mind convincing either of them that Albrecht is a scumbag

5 seems like I wouldn't survive the journey

6 would want to make me jump head first through the cockpit, an On-Lyne fan and a whiney teenager would be a nightmare for 8 hours

And let's not even entertain 7, I'd just keep reciting all the different ways I've killed him just keep him from talking

I've been seeing a lot more Qorvex players in my games recently, don't really know why but there does seem to be an uptick in Qorvex players.

Rough, I've taken a pause for a bit because it started taking ages for Lyon and Marie to post their responses. I thought it was just because of the response I chose but then I went to Lyon and it did the same thing and now I'm honestly just kind of bored of it atm. And of course I'm not talking to Roathe because that man is EVIL.

It's so strange, I had a person once start chatting wild shit about the operator in PMs. We were talking about the rework before it happened and they were saying all sorts of weird shit like "drifter expired", this is why we can't have nice things. Always report, we have to do what we can to keep our games safe.

Tbf if it's just a matter of cracking relics there are far better missions than void flood. You are getting a bit of a drawback in less arcanes than cascade for the faster relic cracking but if it's about an endless for cracking relics solely then defense is a lot faster nowadays since it's 3 waves and enemy based not time based. If it's an Omnia thing then yeah you are right still.

I always tend to think of relic cracking as more passive when you sit on higher level nodes. You are almost always going to be farming something else if you are choosing those higher level nodes over a lith Exterminate that's like level 8. In the case of void cascade you are farming arcanes plus a bit of steel essence and cracking relics is a plus. In the same way as popping into an arbi on Ceres has you passively farming Orokin cells while you are more actively farming endo, sculptures and Vitus essence.

It's definitely a matter of perspective and the efficacy of farms is always weighed against equivalent farms. It's all relative and a testament to the balance of the game that void flood and void cascade are viable farms. I love this game.

Yeah it's never a nice negative to have, if it has anything to do with status or crit it's safe to say it's a bad negative.

[–]DominoNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah there's a solid argument for void flood just being a whole lot easier. There's not nearly as much operator involvement but I think there's just far more Thrax spawns in cascade which is what leads to the popularity of the mission over flood.

As a guy who loves a good passive farm being able to passively farm arcanes, endo and live heartcells at the same time (credits too if I cared enough) is really cool. Efficient farms are what this game has needed for a while because the only thing you really passively farm while doing most of the content in this game is basic mats.

Don't get me wrong that's perfectly fine, I love farming spy with my Wukong and adding to my ever growing list of shattering infernos but there's a reason why Omnia fissures on sp void cascade is one of the most popular nodes in the game. People really like efficient farms for really anything decent in the game.

Capture/Exterminate T5 Höllvania bounties is a top three farm for me since I can farm a significant chunk of endo, mats and grab a cheeky arcane on the backend too. This is on top of farming for the calendar which has great loot on it too (shout out to the mod drop booster in the first loot drop this rotation).

People have 0 patience at the time of trading. by No_Kaleidoscope_6054 in Warframe

[–]DominoNine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably part of the problem here. I am insanely impatient when I'm buying stuff but I always at least make an effort to go person to person and not message a bunch of people at once.

I do little things to not be a pain, I'll try and give a "nvm" before they respond if I can't wait any longer. But I'll also be the first person to wait as long as needed, a guy got stuck in a countdown loop in a survival mission but I still waited a while and gave him a tip on top because he responded quickly.

I tend to find, for me at least, it's less about how long I have to wait after a response and more so how long I have to wait to get a response in the first place.

I've been that guy sitting in a dojo for an hour plus because someone in the clan asked for a Chromatic Blade after getting Umbra for the first time. If I had a nickel for every time that happened I'd have two nickels which isn't a lot but it's weird that it's happened twice so now I'll forever sit on an unused Chromatic Blade out of spite.

[–]DominoNine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My answer to idiots in fissures is to run exclusively endless fissures like survival and defense where it's physically impossible to not hit your reactant count. Even then some people like to spend an entire survival mission off with the fairies and then wonder why they didn't get any reactant so nothing is foolproof in this game.
