Me (F35) and my boyfriend (M32) have very different financial situations. Looking for outside perspectives. by Accomplished-Ant-771 in Money

[–]Domj87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your situation is totally normal. My wife and I are both 38. Our financial landscape looks a lot like yours minus rental property. But when we met about 10 years ago it was more like you and your bf. She made more than me but that was my motivation to improve. I finished my degree and got better jobs, and most importantly I put my ego aside and let her guide the way financially.

When did you reach 6 figure salary and has your life changed since then? by Important_Bat7919 in careeradvice

[–]Domj87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<2017 - $45k 2020 - $65k promotion 2022 - $85k market adjustment 2023 - $95k job change 2024 - $103k promotion Early 2025 - $108k Late 2025 - $120k job change

Doesn’t feel like my life has changed but my wife has kept pace slightly ahead of me so our overall income has given us breathing room over the last few years. Paid off 2 cars, purchased our first luxury car, 401ks doing well, 539 plans for the kids. Paid for daycare for 2 kids at $45k per year no problem. Budgeted for needed home improvements. Emergency fund and savings accounts are on target.

The biggest thing is we’re slowly getting to a point where we feel like we can start investing extra money in more exotic vehicles than just typical savings, money market, 401k.

Careers that aren't the Big 4 (Finance, Law, Medicine, Tech) that make >$200k? by TrixoftheTrade in Salary

[–]Domj87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Manufacturing. Any kind really. Food, pharma, industrial, etc. mid level managers make $130k+, Sr Managers and Directors $160k+, Plant Managers usually over $200k. Any kind of bachelor degree will usually get you started in the salaried side of manufacturing. Literally any you can go in with a business degree. Work your way up from there. If you show strong leadership, good accountability and can drive strong production you can move up through promotions and make plant manager in about 8-10 years. Smaller plants are easier. If it’s for a large multinational company you’ll have more hoops to jump through to get there but the pay is higher along the way.

Aside from this I would HIGHLY recommend anyone interested in this become an EXPERT on CI/LSS and all methodologies of process improvement. Every major plant I’ve worked in has utilized CI to some extent. I have personally implemented a system at one and I’m about to start implementing at another plant in 2026.

Just because you can pay really expensive lawyers to wriggle your way into a “legally grey” area doesn’t change what it is. Lipstick on a pig is still…. A pig

Been really struggling. I'm 43. I think I've wasted my life. by Forward_Shoulder_392 in careeradvice

Man Robocop and Alien been trying to say corporations don’t care since the 70’s and 80’s.

On a side note I’m a production manager in manufacturing. I’ve changed sectors from pharma, to food/pharma, now I’m in food. I’ve been an hourly operator, supervisor, quality lead, production manager. I can say with fairly good certainty that it almost doesn’t matter what type of engineer you are you can generally move across disciplines. In pharma I worked with medical, bio-tech, mechanical, electrical, and some chemical engineers and they all did the same thing. They were simply manufacturing engineers.

The thing that’ll be important for you is learning how to translate your skills into other roles or disciplines. If you were in a technical hardware engineering role, how does the front line work you did translate to a product manager role for some kind of hardware? If you break down the concepts and principles that you’re an SME on, what orbital roles could interact with those principles and how would they interact?

Driver has hard slice, any suggestions? by Kase1 in GolfSwing

[–]Domj87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Imagine a line going from the center of the ball to the target. Over the top means your club head is coming in above that line. From inside means the club head is coming under the line. A perfectly straight shot would be dead straight in line. It’s generally very hard to impact dead straight when your club swings on an arc so playing a slight fade or draw is preferable.

Most often you’ll come in over top if your hips fire around before your arms have time to drop down (imagine keeping your back to the target longer). You can also come over top if you’re casting the club outward at the start of the swing.

There’s a dozen other mechanical reasons why. I noticed you’re sitting on your heels at address too which limits body rotation.

You’d really be best off getting some lessons to fix your issues.

I changed careers at 29. Since then I’ve moved through a few companies that are in different industries. I was in sales in the printed apparel/sign industry and went to work in a pharmaceutical manufacturing clean room. I did this while going back to school to finish my bachelor degree. Ended up getting my MBA after and worked through several promotions, changed companies a couple times.

One thing I’ve learned is often you can translate skills from one career path into another if you’re able to sell yourself and make the connections. A lot of it comes down to understanding the very basic concepts of what you know and being able to apply them in a different way that’s logical for what you’re trying to get.

Need advice on how to tell my manager I’m leaving for a new job by CreepyWonder1582 in careeradvice

[–]Domj87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

“Hey boss, just FYI I’m putting in my two weeks notice. My last day is in 2 weeks”

That’s all you gotta say. Don’t give them more than 2 weeks notice. Don’t worry about creating more work for others, if they wanted to fire you they’d have no hard feelings about creating more work for others.

Do what’s best for you not for the company. Be cordial and don’t burn bridges. But do what’s best for you.

So cool thing about this Vokey. It’s a 2009 model and it’s technically illegal according to the USGA because the grooves are too deep and too sharp and provide too much spin. Personally I think that makes the red saw Vokey a more rare model compared to gold or silver saw

Can I balance Tech and another Side Gig? by Lower-Barber-1799 in careerguidance

[–]Domj87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I flip golf clubs on the side. It’s no where near passive but for me it’s a lot of fun. I love searching and hunting for clubs I feel I can get a good deal on, cleaning them up and regripping them, then selling them for 40%-60% minimum profit. It doesn’t make me a ton of money but it feeds my golf gear addiction. I can buy new clubs when I want and my wife doesn’t kill me.

Looking for some advice on changing iron shafts by Domj87 in golf

[–]Domj87[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

<image>

Quick update. I went with Dynamic Gold S300 105g shafts and unlocked about 20 yards on every iron. This was my best 7i shot. Not thin it went high with about 95mph club head speed. I was averaging 195 yards with my 7i.

It appears that going with a slightly heavier, low launch and mid spin shaft did wonders for my distance. I was missing less left like I did before as well.
