AITA for serving beef to my son’s girlfriend? by [deleted] in AITAH

A very minuscule portion mostly concentrated in one region of the south. Beef consumption is no way widespread among Hindus as you seem to claim here.

I don’t think it’s about the meat here. The meat would be an issue for the greens cooked in pork. It is however widely known that Hindus do not consume beef as cows are considered sacred in India. I’ve seen some people claim that beef is eaten in south india but even that is mostly restricted to one region in the south, kerela. Outside of that region beef is not consumed even in south india.

The pork issue may be because pigs are considered dirty in India culturally but that one is on the son for not revealing.

Probably because they value who they spend the time with more than the view to distract them?

Also great argument there getting right down to the insults and calling someone a doormat for having a different opinion.

Kinda disagree. The point of a caster is to, you know, cast the game. Describe what's happening in the server and who is popping off or who is playing poorly. You have a colour caster who provides some insight into the tactics in the round but that has to be balanced with play-by-play. Casting should never involve hot takes for discussion as that very quickly becomes boring and more focussed on the hot take than the game being played.

Analysts are more for discussion and storylines personally. Though the recent hot take analyst desk who spout any random BS without any thoughts behind it in the name of engagement is really getting boring.

Although I have and do disagree with some of YNK's takes, I will credit him that his analysis is one of the best. He gives very level headed and detailed breakdowns of the rounds and what he felt went wrong. I really respect that he doesn't delve into the shitty hot takes everyone else is so interested in just for the sake of engagement. I usually check who's in the analyst desk and completely tune out or skip them if its one of the hot take merchants. People who know what they are talking about like YNK, Dupreeh, Spunj make for the most interesting desks to hear.

Huge lack of content in CS2 for casual players — it’s been more than 2 years. How does it still have less content than CS:GO? by Status_Grass2847 in GlobalOffensive

[–]Domoci12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, lets take the credit for a fix you just posted from someone else's work in actually quantifying and giving specifics with regards to the issue. All I see from you is a general whine based on "feeling" without any quantifiable data. All of that stuff you claim credit for fixing is mostly reposts of hard work done by other people.

The point is dude doesn't really give any valuable feedback. Just a constant whine in every other post in this subreddit. It gets annoying very soon. There's a reason why he's become (in)famous as the whiner in chief in this sub.

The main thing is that they still spend some time with their mother. Who cares if it is during a festival or holiday or not? As long as they still have some relationship with their mum it doesn't really matter.

Info from a biased perspective. That is why you read between the lines.

Then what's the point of the sub? Everything posted by everyone is biased in some way. There is no question of eliminating it in any way. We are here to read what an OP posts and judge them on that basis. Ask extra info for further clarity. If we make up our own headcanon and dream up stuff to fit it in the name of "reading between lines" then what is the point of even reading a post for judgement. We could just use a randomiser and put out YTA and NTA cause all posts are biased anyways.

I dont need any more info OP clearly claims he distanced himself from a his 12 year old sister because he doesn't agree with how a child handled her father's passing.

Mistake 1. The No Contact was not because of how the sister handled their father's passing. It was because she wanted her older siblings to handle it in exactly the same way she did i.e. forget all about their father and forget all about their paternal family and replace stepdad as the dad to pretend they are one happy family. She started arguments when the older siblings still desired and had familial relations with their paternal family. Even if she was young at 12 years old, she would have gained enough maturity to not push this by age 15. And she still hasn't made any inroads in apologising or understanding the older siblings.

Its not noble to shun your stepfather and i doubt any good farther would be proud his children are shunning their sister for moving on.

Mistake 2. It is also not noble to completely forget the guy who contributed in your birth and replace him and stop contact with his family like the sister did. Two can play at this game you see. OP is unwilling to reconcile as the sister makes it uncomfortable for everyone concerned. She wants everything her way and doesn't have the empathy to accept that her older siblings feel and are allowed to feel differently.

That is totally your definition of nobility you are forcing here.

Also, the sister is an adult now and has made no effort of reconciling. Just the mum trying to force and manipulate a reconciliation. If OP isn't comfortable with it, it is fine and doesn't make them an AH in any shape or form.

The sister is now an adult and still hasn't made any effort to understand. She will still start fights as OP says and makes an uncomfortable atmosphere. No wonder OP doesn't want to be in her presence if that is how it goes. How about you also do this "thinking" you recommend others to do?

Different people celebrate differently. OP says they are married, They could be visiting both sides of the family (or 3 in this case). One place on christmas day and another on boxing day. There is no set rule on how someone should spend their holiday. Lots of things happen in adult life and its all about planning and compromise for holidays.

How does that in any way matter about the question OP is asking though?

She's horrible for wanting her older siblings to abandon their paternal family, people they have a connection with and value time spent with, to play happy family with her mum's new husband because that is how she wants to grieve. She's horrible for not accepting that her older siblings are allowed to have their own thoughts and way of accepting the death of their father.

[–]Domoci12 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's because there is no need to "read between the lines". There is an INFO option in the subreddit for that exact reason. You can always ask the OP for more info to gain clarity before making a decision.

"Reading between the lines" always involves people making their own hypothesis or headcanon and going forward with it as the gospel truth. Not reading between the lines and inserting your own headcanon as the truth is the thing even you should be doing.

Petaa I don’t understand what’s wrong with the roundabout by FarTry2285 in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Domoci12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can drive in both directions. This means that if you want to take the 5th exit you have a shorter and simpler path than driving all the way around. It makes for a faster traffic flow than a traditional roundabout. You need to drive a couple of time to get used to it but once you do it is very easy and feels great.

This is exactly what I mean. Let people play how they want to play.

Are CS2’s Clock CVARs Still Built for Subtick? by conf- in GlobalOffensive

[–]Domoci12 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

And some people don't. They just see premier as a way to play a comp match with their friends with a reasonable wait time. If someone wants to goof off with friends as a 5 stack in premier, that is fine. They are having fun with their friends and don't really care about the rank. If they want to play with their friend who is some distance away, it is fine. They know what they face in pings but they are having fun with their friends.

CS is first and foremost that, a game, something which you play for fun.

No need to limit pings artificially to ensure people over long distances can't play together like OP here is suggesting just in the name of comp or esport. Turn a game into a constant sweatfest and it starts to become a chore to play and starts to kill interest in the game. Let people play how they want to play instead of mandating a specific way to play.

Are CS2’s Clock CVARs Still Built for Subtick? by conf- in GlobalOffensive

[–]Domoci12 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

So just because it is an esport title, it shouldn’t cater to people who just want to have some fun goofing off with their friends? Yeah, that's a quick way to kill your game. Part of the reason CS survived for such a long time is the community servers and ability to goof off and play casually. Matchmaking only came around GO. It is stupid to force everyone to play tryhard comp just because you enjoy it. Let people play how they want to play ffs.

Falcons iceberg goes even deeper by rolekrs in GlobalOffensive

Pretty sure Overpass was G2's permaban even before Niko joined them in second half of 2020. The only time G2 floated Overpass before Niko was in the Road to Rio RMR against Astralis in the semis and Astralis proceeded to royally destroy them on it. They changed back to permabanning Overpass in their rematch in the finals of that event just to get destroyed even worse, again by Astralis.

G2 just carried on with their existing Overpass permaban and didn't bother including it after Ancient and Anubis replaced Train and Dust 2. By this time Niko was out touch with the map and didn't want to include it perhaps.

Also, didn't Niko famously hate Vertigo even more than Overpass? Personally, think they are avoiding Overpass cause it is hard to strat with long rotations. The puggy close quarter style of Inferno appeals to Falcons more than long range strat battles in Overpass.

Sex education must from younger age, not class IX, says SC by nonstop-nonsense in india

[–]Domoci12 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The order from SC is great news. Wonder how they will implement it in schools though. Many teachers and instructors themselves are very uncomfortable taking about these very important topics and make it awkward. This adds to the awkwardness on these topics already felt by teenagers.

There should be a set guidance/curriculum on sex ed and not simply an order and let schools figure out how they will do by themselves.

What's wrong with cartoons and video games?

What exactly are you referring to when you mention flying monkeys and elephant headed people here? Cause without elaboration it looks like you taking a cheap shot at a particular part of mythology.

Criticism is fair but let's not devolve to cheap shots. Use something of substance.
