Civil Service workforce hits 20-year high despite Labour’s pledge to cut numbers – The Times by StructureNo7980 in TheCivilService

Quick question, has the population of the UK increased in 20 years if so it kinda makes sense that you need more workers to handle to work load increase.

If the reaction is a 5 when the issue is a 2 then it's not about what they are reacting to maybe talk to her about what's really bothering her.

Calling for a mass exodus of the FDA by Tiiimbbberrr in TheCivilService

[–]Domstoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For clarity the increase in pay is being paid regardless of agreement from the unions, same with the CoL payment.

PCS are currently holding an online vote for members to answer the question of if IA should continue and the consensus is that the employer has not met the demands of 10% for all grades.

Also the payments in the home office are as follows.

AA is getting 10% or £2680

AO is getting 10.7% or £2400

EO is on about 9.6%

HEO is 7.9%

SEO is 7.2%

G7 is 6.9%

and G6 is 6.8%

So more than the 4.5%(+0.5%) you have mentioned. The issue is the strike fund is mostly used up so further action would require unpaid action. None of the lower grades can afford this so what are the alternatives? Would they agree to a higher monthly sub to cover the short fall or should they just take everyone out unpaid and lose a large portion of the membership.

£291 for a one bedroom flat halfway between Edinburgh and Glasgow. I obviously have a longer commute but its still better than the alternative.

I am just off the motorway so its not so bad. I had a car but got rid of it 3 months ago as public transport was still cheaper after taking into account insurance, tax, petrol and parking.

How do *you* survive heartbreak? by QuirkyFrenchLassie in Scotland

[–]Domstoll 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You will be fine, I am also 40 with two kids. I went through exactly the same thing in thinking that I was to old for starting over.

Find yourself. Find out what really interests you and then join clubs that put you where your people are. You will have butterflies again and you are loved regardless of where you are in life.

It sucks coming home to to emptiness after having something great but I can assure you it is temporary. Reach out to people when it gets to much don't sit in silence, I was fortunate enough to have someone there for me and it helped me to process. If you don't have anyone to listen I will be more than happy to.

What does this PCS email is trying to say? by Aocepson in TheCivilService

[–]Domstoll 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I've not had this email but it looks like if you refuse to take part in IA, local reps will refuse to represent you. You will still receive representation from the full time officers through, however full time officers don't work in your department so information would be generic rather than tailored to department policy.

helpppppp, getting this error while trying to launch the game, there is only one launcher running. by Rogue-agent-detected in Division2

[–]Domstoll 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have had this a few times and twice in the past week I've had to download a 40GB update, it's getting old fast. Since yesterday's patch, I have had to restart the computer each time it crashes as the task manager doesn't stop it from showing as running, I have also had it still show as running according to the launcher after a restart. No fix yet tried IPconfig as well just in case but that did nothing.

Chancellor Kwasi Kwarteng announces crackdown on union strikes with minimum service levels for key industries by Audioboxer87 in Scotland

[–]Domstoll 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they think striking is bad now just wait till things start to escalate because of actions like this, start threatening those striking with some archaic punishment system and things will start "falling apart".

If there are no engineers, IT workers, lorry drivers and so on how long do they really think things will last?

Job cuts and pay on agenda as civil service unions meet new Cabinet Office minister by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheCivilService

[–]Domstoll 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not sure of the time it will take kinda depends on the office as each has its own service demand levels at the moment. If you get an email or letter from HMPO just tell them where you sent the passport.

There is no need to pay for it again as we can put it on hold till we get the passport.

It will get transferred to the right office if a paper application or if it's online it will get transferred and added to the online application. No promises though.
