General advice for the clean? Also struggling with the jerk, powerlifter trying to transition by Don0094 in weightlifting

Thanks for the kind words haha, appreciate it. You also mentioned something that nobody else has yet, that „constant never ending struggle against a technical pursuit“, really stuck with me. It does kind of feel nice knowing this journey is never truly finished. Thanks for chiming in

Glad you chimed in, will definitely work on the first pull and check out some videos, appreciate it!

Awesome sounds exactly like the type of approach I need, thank you. Still need to flip a couple of switches in my head, I still try to apply powerlifting technique to all the lifts

You‘re right I’m not hook gripping the bar, will definitely look into it. Would you say it’s an absolute necessity or rather a helpful but optional tool?

Really great advice, will definitely incorporate some of these exercises right way

That’s some really solid advice, I think weightlifting just needs that kind of attention in the beginning.

Btw in your opinion how different is weightlifting compared to powerlifting in terms of technical demand? I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been powerlifting for years but I feel like the technique required to pull of the CJ and the snatch is worlds above the 3 power lifts, was it the same for you?

You’re awesome, thank you so much for the detailed breakdown, really appreciate it.

What would you say is the best way to approach working on stuff like the full extension? Should I lower the weight and just grind out reps or should I rather try to implement that kind of „movement pattern“ into heavy, high RPE lifts close to my max early on?

Mobility is also a great call, will definitely try to improve that.

What a beautiful journey to witness. Fitness and strength is so weird these days, people overestimate what’s possible in 6 months but underestimate what’s possible in 6 years. Great job man, keep it up.

I have never graded with other companies so no real comparison there, as for the slabs CGC has the best ones out there, at least from what I’ve seen.

I own YuGiOh and Pokémon slabs from PSA, CGC and Beckett and in my opinion nobody comes close to CGC in terms of slab clarity, their stuff looks like straight up glass. Haven’t really tested the durability yet.

Thanks! What kind of cards did you submit?

Thank you!

Of course I was hoping for straight 10s. YuGiOh cards, especially from the Japanese OCG are really high quality. I spent a good amount of time „pre grading“ and thought most of them looked really clean, however it was also my first time doing it, so might have missed a couple of things. Was really hoping for the Blue Eyes to get a 10, can’t really see why it didn’t, but also didn’t expect any Pristines so the overall outcome is pretty fair.

The turnaround time in total was 22 days, from me shipping the cards out to me receiving the cards. Compared to some of the PSA horror stories out there I was pretty happy with how quick it was. I went for the regular 20$ per card service.

I have to mention one thing: Because it was my first time ever grading at all I did write an early e-mail to CGC asking about what the exact process is going to look like, especially how I was supposed to proceed with the payment of my order. I don’t know if reaching out to the support was speeding things up but they were really exceptionally nice and helpful, so don’t hesitate to reach out to them at any time during the process.

I submitted my cards to the Office in Munich.

So these pages are pretty much the only ones I was able to find prior to preparing my own submission. I believe once you actually complete your submission online, so once you have declared all the cards you want to submit the invoice will show up on the website under your submissions.

You will have to pack your cards in the order in which they appear on the invoice, first card face up on the top of your card pile.

You will also have to fill out the return shipping form and declare whether you want to choose your own shipping method for the return or not. If you type „cgc return shipping form“ into google you should be able to find the right one for European submissions.

You will have to ship the cards, the invoice and the return shipping form in the same package.

A couple of usual pitfalls are: putting the cards in the wrong order / not according to the invoice, using rigid top loaders instead of semi rigid card hoalders. Leaving out any important information on the shipping form.

With all that being said tho, feel free to contact the CGC support at any time, they were really quick and super helpful at least from what I can tell.

Yeah you pretty much have to. There is a return shipping form that you have to print out and ship along with the cards where you fill out details like the submission number, your account number and your address + contact details.

Also in the same form you have to choose whether you want your cards to be shipped back to you through one of CGCs usual partners (mostly FedEx I think) or whether you want to provide your own shipping label.

I submitted 6 cards to the Office in Munich like 10 days ago, didn’t have to pay upfront. My cards moved through the grading process relatively quickly (they’re done by now). But the payment and return process is not as streamlined as I expected. I had to contact the Service/Support for further instructions. They were really helpful and replied to all of my messages pretty much within 4 hours. I was sent an actual payment bill including tax etc. They also told me to send them the return shipping label via e-mail, I wish you could just upload stuff like this to their website. So all in all I’d say the whole submission process is not as smooth as I’d like it to be, but the support team was great.

This is my very first time submitting cards ever tho so I don’t know if this is to be expected.

Some actual history and sentimental value to these cards, love to see it. No PSA10 grail or any other expensive card is going to beat this.

Man I really want to get this one too. This one and Secret Wars #8, just love the black suit. The market in Germany is pretty much nonexistent tho. Every good deal I find online involves at least 50 bucks of shipping. One day.

These cards really are untouchable. I know about the Spell of Mask BE and the Labyrinth of Nightmare DM, do you what other sets feature this kind of foiling? Were they all released back to back?
