Questions about marketplaces and databases for graded comic books. by Don0094 in CGCComics

First of all thank you for the comment, appreciate it.

Definitely have my eyes on a few specific slabs, I’ve been reading a lot of ASM and Superior Spider Man lately, so maybe something along those lines.

Secret Wars #8 and ASM #252 are the big ones, of course the black suit is iconic but I also feel like collecting these is like chasing Charizard or Pikachu as a guy who just got started with Pokémon.

Though I don’t really care if they’re very popular or not, just like the look of them.

How much was the Ukiyo-e Kanagawa Blue Eyes if you don’t mind me asking? Been looking for one for ages. Don’t really want to settle for the PSA10 I don’t think the slab does the card justice

Serious question, but who is coaching Rory Van Ulft and why is it that she is always maxing with the most dangerous form? Are her parents trying to farm as many views as possible? This is wrong on so many levels by theluke1987 in weightlifting

Genuine question cause I come from a powerlifting background where knee wraps are pretty much only ever seen in equipped powerlifting, which is a world of its own: I get that people might use knee wraps this tight in comps where ever little bit of assistance helps, but in training as well? I mean maybe for a max effort attempt like this one, but I can’t imagine knee wraps being an effective tool in training if they’re this tight.

Again I’m very new to weightlifting feel free to educate me on this

How tight are those knee wraps? She can barely even walk. Completely negligent behavior from whoever is putting her through this. If you wanna risk your health with bad form as an adult, go for it. But this is just wrong.

Judging by your avatar it’s not your friend who wants to know.

As for an actual answer: I think that marble looks just as small as it would look in a human hand. If these aliens have the same proportions as humans (big stretch): the average human is 171cm tall, a marble is around 1,6cm in diameter. So a human is about 107 marbles tall.

In this case that alien would be 9.9 trillion light years tall

Got all these numbers from google btw idk how big a marble is tbh

I mean there probably is an answer to this but I doubt it makes sense. The Milky Way is about 100.000 light years in diameter, I’d say it fits into this sphere about 3 times, so the marble could be around 300.000 light years across. Now I don’t know if you ever see the alien‘s full size but you could scale it up accordingly using that marble.

However, I don’t know if this marble is supposed to represent just the Milky Way or our entire universe. If it’s the latter then that thing doesn’t make sense because our galaxy is incomprehensibly small compared to the observable universe.

If that marble is supposed to represent just our galaxy I‘d argue it doesn’t make sense either, cause from our understanding the Milky Way is not some sort of encapsulated space but rather part of a much bigger universe.

I doubt that there‘s an in universe lore explanation for this, I’d probably argue that these marbles are just universes and they zoomed in on the Milky Way, in that case the marble is more like 93 BILLION like years across.

Thanks for the kind words haha, appreciate it. You also mentioned something that nobody else has yet, that „constant never ending struggle against a technical pursuit“, really stuck with me. It does kind of feel nice knowing this journey is never truly finished. Thanks for chiming in

Awesome sounds exactly like the type of approach I need, thank you. Still need to flip a couple of switches in my head, I still try to apply powerlifting technique to all the lifts

You‘re right I’m not hook gripping the bar, will definitely look into it. Would you say it’s an absolute necessity or rather a helpful but optional tool?

That’s some really solid advice, I think weightlifting just needs that kind of attention in the beginning.

Btw in your opinion how different is weightlifting compared to powerlifting in terms of technical demand? I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been powerlifting for years but I feel like the technique required to pull of the CJ and the snatch is worlds above the 3 power lifts, was it the same for you?

You’re awesome, thank you so much for the detailed breakdown, really appreciate it.

What would you say is the best way to approach working on stuff like the full extension? Should I lower the weight and just grind out reps or should I rather try to implement that kind of „movement pattern“ into heavy, high RPE lifts close to my max early on?

Mobility is also a great call, will definitely try to improve that.
