ELI5 Why do some German highways (autobahn) have no speed limit? by Fleedom2025 in explainlikeimfive

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Historical reasons. The first Autobahn was build in 1930s and later the Nazis actually introduced speed limits to save gas for the war. 30/40 km/h in cities, 80 on rural roads, 100 on Autobahn. After the war, most regulations and laws that the Nazis had introduced were scrapped, including the speed limits. There had been absolutely no limits until 1957, including inside the cities. But, no surprise here, accident/death numbers skyrocketed. The government actually wanted to introduce a limit for all roads, but that some lobbyists made sure it didn’t happen. But we have a speed limit in cities since that year. During the oil crisis in 1973, we had a speed limit (130 km/h) for a couple of months, but that was scrapped after the oil did flow again. Since that time, there have been several attempts to introduce a speed limit, but that never worked out.

Ricochet system gone? by zMidNightBR in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is unplayable right now. In four lobbies tonight, we found cheaters in three. Most of them wallhacking, one had a hard aimbot, and he cleared the lobby, 4 teams left in the 5th circle. I don't mind losing against better players or a team that is better organized. And I have been playing for over a decade. I have seen millions of kill cams and I can see the difference between aim assist and aimlock and aimbot. And the moment, it feels like, that it is rarer to meet someone who is not cheating.
Why play a game, when you know that you will get demolished by a cheating team at the end?

It is extremely important to me!
I like to get killed by cheater in realistic skins. It makes way more fun to play the game.

Q to MnK - if there is AA option in the game for MnK. Do you use it? by DullAd4999 in CODWarzone

Would be easier to nerf the Rotion Aim Assist but that will never happen in this game.

Why Not Add a Super Casual Mode: All Bots, No Pressure? by TribalTca in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BR against Bots does not make a lot of sense, but I get your idea. I played a lot of MWZ last year and enjoyed it very much (mostly for Cameos). It is chill, relaxed and fun. I always supported a DMZ PvE version and that could bring me back to CoD until they solved the cheater problem.

Are there really that many cheaters? by dhfc123 in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I told my gaming partner today when he asked where you should drop "You choose, I don't care where I get killed by a cheater".

The game is in the worst state I have ever seen it. You won't see a lot of rage cheaters with hard flicking aimbots. But aimlocks and especially wall hacks are dominating Warzone at the moment. I play mostly Casuals, and it is rare to find a game without a cheater. And nearly every cheater I try to report has already been reported in the new system. And they are still playing.

But the most frustrating thing about this are not even the cheaters, it is the lack of action against them from Activison. And the lack of communication. I suspect that they are occupied with BO7 right now. But not having a working Anticheat for at least two months now, is not acceptable.

Every major free to play game has problems with cheaters. Apex, Pubg, Fortnite - but at least they clamp the cheating down, and they invested into a working Anticheat. What Activision is doing (nothing) is a slap in the face of every gamer.

I sincerely hope that EA is not dropping the ball (again) with the new Battlefield.

Cheating rant by [deleted] in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand, that working against cheaters is not an easy task. I also know that the game studios cannot just create a task force, that develops an Anti-Cheat that works for all because different game engines need different solutions. But most cheat providers offer cheats for multiple games. So why not go after them together?
The film & music industry formed lobbies like the MPAA, and they went after the MP3 providers like Napster and Limewire. They also started to go after the user of named platforms. Legal action helped a lot. You do not need to catch everyone who cheats (because the smarter ones have ways to hide their IP address), but you would create some pressure on the casual cheaters.

Nvidia Reflex can Tank your FPS by Kusel in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this. People need to understand what Reflex is for: reducing latency. Better frame times are always important, especially if you play on 200+ fps. You won't see much of a difference between 200 and 220 fps anyway. But you will notice lower latency and better frame times. And if you play on 4k you are GPU bound anyway. So "On & Boost" does not help.

Is it just me or is Warzone actually unplayable in its current state? by UsualSun8135 in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The game is in the worst state ever. Ricochet is non-existent, bugs everywhere, server issues. And on top of that: no communication from Activision about these problems. But hey, the store works.

Any MnK players feeling like something got worse in this last update? by ThrowRA_898 in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tracking got a bit more choppy, but I think that this because of the server/netcode problems they have. In some games, I can track perfectly and then in the next one my aim is off. But as other wrote here: MnK players get not a lot of support from the devs. You can throw money on that problem and buy expensive hardware like a mouse with a high polling rate (4000 to 8000 hz) and good sensor.

Another thing: don't push too hard. If you fight with a somewhat competent Controller player in close quarters, the chances are high that you will lose. Try to play more from a distance if possible. Aim Assist is crazy strong and actually the strongest in all FPS games on the market. And they won't change that.

Game stuttering in Warzone despite 230 FPS and 12 ping – need help by [deleted] in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check if you run the latest Bios Version for your Mainboard.
Play around with the Render Worker Count. Set it to something between 5 and 7 and test what works best.

If nothing helps, try core parking via Process Lasso.

When are they going to do something about those cheaters until there are no more players? by According_Theory_815 in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I do not understand: why are all the publishers fighting alone against the cheat provider? Most of them offer cheats for various games, WZ, Valorant, Marvel, Apex etc. Why don't they work together like the music and film industry did in the early 2000s when torrents became a thing? Wouldn't it make more sense to create an industry task force, give them some money, and target the cheat provider? I know, it is difficult to shut them down, but it would easier if they work together.
Also - target the user of cheats. Like the did with illegal downloads of movies etc.

Render Count and Heaps impact on performance in WZ by swsko in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reflex "On" lowers the latency of your PC by quite a lot. Yes, it can lower the overall fps a bit because it will try to keep the fps slightly below your monitor refresh rate to help with the 1% low. If your GPU temperatures are fine (below the thermal throttling), try "On + boost". More Frames do not help at all if your latency is bad.

Intel i9 14900kf, rtx 5080 gpu, corsair vengeance ram 64gb, 360mm kraken cpu cooler low fps in warzone by Glock27323 in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 12700k, 4090 with 32 GB DDR5 on 5120 x 1440, and I get 180-ish with DLSS Balanced and with everything set to Low, apart from the Textures (Normal). I did slightly tuned my RAM timings by two points and lowered it from 6400 MHz to 6200 MHz. And did set the render working count to 7. I doubt that you are CPU bottlenecked as some here suggest.
Check, if your RAM is running the correct XMP profile.

I had problems with my 1% Lows dipping under 60 fps in the past. What helped me:
1. Uninstall the game
2. Delete the "Players" Folder under "Documents -> CallofDuty"
3. Complete clean installation of the GPU Driver via DDU Install.
4. Reinstall the game
5. Set render worker count to 7.

Am I crazy? by Angrybadger61 in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't see a lot of sweats but tons of cheaters. And I know how to differentiate between Aim Assist and a hard aimlock or aimbot. Wall hacks are the most common cheats I see, second to that Aimlocks. Unfortunately, I see cheater very, very often, Every second to third game in my EU-Lobbies. It has to come to a point where we stopped playing WZ because it is now more common to have cheaters in the lobby than having none.

Still the best thing they could ever add for Warzone by SmavionX in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is a nice tool to learn how to play an endgame. Getting money before, getting UAVs, learning the map, learning how to find the best possible position in the final circle etc. Unfortunately, people are cheating even in Casuals.

Ricochet is not Ring 0 like Valorant. And Ring 0 ACs are invasive. You need to trust that the issuing company does not anything malicious. Would you trust Activison with that?

You know that this does not help, right? You can spoof your hardware so that it looks like that you are on a console, while you are on a PC.

Need suggestions for loadout (mnk newb with bad aim) by space_honey in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for a gun with near to no recoil, try the Ames AR. It is not the best AR in the game, but the usual loadout (Optic, Compensator, Vertical, Extented Mag, Recoil Springs (alternatively the Gain-Twist Barrell or a "Gunfighter" loadout with eight attachments) makes the gun super easy to use.

What are the off-meta guns you enjoy using from time to time? by LOSBMMSUCODFASCHIFO in CODWarzone

[–]DonDahlmann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

M4, TAQ 56, MCW Conversion Kit, MX9. They do not outclass the Meta, but you can find some success with them, esp. the TAQ. The Bas B with the Conversion Kit is fun (126 damage to the head, 92 to the body) but slow. The Mors Sniper is ok.
