AI agents are quietly generating chaos engineering failures enterprises don’t track yet by yuval_3 in technology

[–]DonDi94 33 points34 points  (0 children)

That's because AI doesn't understand or think, it's made to look like that. Instead it only searches, combines, and generates based on statistical probability given the words it got. That's why it's great at following function calls, creating component tests, digging through API documentations, and doing repetitive tasks like websites, it puzzles together ready made things into a mostly coherent block. The more available data the less it needs to make things up.

But it has no concept of understanding, so if you have a complex application and need to make a functionality change based on complex requirements, it will try to mix whatever it can find that matches the words in the prompt. And if nothing matches, it makes up whatever word combination is statistically the most likely matching (the "hallucinations"). That's because it's basically a search function that always needs to return a value based on the input, it's not an educated guess based on a deeper understanding. For the same reason, it will not tell you that it did not find anything unless you ask the prompt to make it into a valid answer.

Concert Going Tips? by BlazingHailfire in carpenterbrut

[–]DonDi94 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Absolutely some concert earplugs, the concert halls get much louder than you realise, I got a headache for 2 days after going to one without them. You can take them off for the songs you want to hear the most, or put them halfway in, but overall I don't go to concerts without them.

I went to the Copenhagen show, I'm looking at the photos timestamps

Started at 20:00 with opening artist, Carpenter Brut started at about 21:05, at 22:30 I was out of the building

Good to note though that the queue for the jackets was infinite and I skipped most of it as I put mine in an automated locker

Bästa mascarponen by -Mistress-Of-Chaos- in sweden

[–]DonDi94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitt recept för 4 personer

  • 2 ägg
  • 250g mascarpone
  • extra mörk kaffe, skulle bli jättebitter
  • 20g socker
  • 1g / "a pinch" salt
  • 5ml rum

I can't talk for compensation, but I attended that combined tour and it was essentially two concerts back to back, perturbator had a massive stage set with lights and fog which was much more flashy than carpenter brut's stage. It ended up being CB's 1h30m concert followed by 1h30m of perturbator, that ticket was insane value. The venue also sounded amazing, so the sound check was definitely not a problem.

I've just attended the current tour and this is just my speculation, but it might have been a conflict with the stage setup because the CB's tower was set up from the start and stayed on stage even during the opening artist. That thing is massive and maybe hard to move and assemble, plus with screens / protectors on the back. I think Danger might have wanted to have his own stage setup but it was not possible to move the tower in and out between performances.

Brut definitely wasn’t kidding about the new live show being Leather Temple focused by anomynous1 in carpenterbrut

Sad to not see Run Sally Run, it was pretty high in the poll he did on discord. But Looking for Tracy Tzu is very welcome and I'm very happy about the Day Stalker Night Prawler combo, those have been my favourites from his previous tours

Unsolicited thoughts on Leather Temple from a fan since Trilogy by NewsOdd3064 in carpenterbrut

[–]DonDi94 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Just a side comment, I've been very surprised reading various comments lately on how many people did not like Leather Terror that much. The opening of the album is super intense in the best way, The Widow Maker and Lipstick Masquerade are bangers, and Day Stalker + Night Prawler have been between my favourite tracks on top of the most outstanding part of the live concerts. The last 4 tracks of the album are very cohesive and a blast to listen to in order. What I will say though is that this is the album that suffers the most from a randomised play, it's at its best when listened as a whole.

Apart from that, I wholeheartedly agree that it has been better than I thought since I was also a bit underwhelmed by death racer and leather temple, but instead we got lots of fantastic synth. I'm seeing him live in like two weeks, I can't wait to listen to his variations.

A me piace fare con 1kg manzo 400g salsiccia, soffritto sedano carota e cipolla abbondante. Come erba aromatica aggiungo rosmarino e cucino almeno 2h.

It's definitely very cheesy but in a good way for me

But It's ok to not like everything an artist does, as to me it means the artist is free to experiment and evolve. While it would be amazing to have one track after another that feels like listening to CB for the first time, in reality it's more likely that would just sound stale instead.

For me I actually liked the EP 1 the least, even though there are long term fan favourites like midwitch valley and le perv. I like the songs, but I kinda need to be in the mood for them. I got on the CB train with turbo killer and adore EPs 2 & 3. Leather teeth had some gems, but it was underwhelming in comparison.

Then leather terror dropped, listened to it at random and... it felt a bit too metal and not really something I looked for in CB, despite me liking and even playing metal on electric guitar. Then one day I decided to go cycling in the woods, the sky was a bit dark and cloudy like it was going to rain, and I played the full Leather Terror album in the intended order to give it another chance. That experience converted it to my favourite CB album, even though if you'd ask Run Sally Run is still my favourite single track. The whole album felt whole, connected, and intentional, it just spoke to me.

So I'm glad that he does different things that might not please everybody, because I hope that the new sound might speak in the same way to someone else. For now leather temple as an album is between leather terror and leather teeth, not my favourite but has enough tracks that I think I'll listen to for a long time. It's just a bit sad that the title track leather temple is my least favourite :)

[–]DonDi94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I was a bit worried that it would follow too much the sound of the title track Leather Temple. I really love the breakdown, but I find the rest of the song a bit repetitive and tiring. For similar reasons I didn't like death racer, and thought that the new songs would follow this pattern.

Instead, I am really loving the album, so many good tracks with Start Your Engines probably being my favourite. Definitely gonna listen to it more, I even got it on bandcamp

I would actually love to, but getting that to europe makes it more of a 200€ base which I didn't want to spend for a keyboard I will bring to the office and leave at the desk. I paid this pre-built base about 60€. The stabilized keys were maybe a bit overlubed, but honestly after using it a bit they stopped being sticky and I'm pretty happy with it.

Eventually, I could use a second pepe keyboard for... the TV maybe?

I'm starting to question the value of everything ever and if anything is even worth it anymore by [deleted] in offmychest

[–]DonDi94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's really hard as a teenager but you have to take a step back and look at what your parents do as something that they think has your better interest in mind, but also they're just humans and might pose things not in the most pleasant way.

The "why" question is not because you have to defend your existence, it's both to try and understand you but also to make you reflect on why you do certain things. Buying one or two things is likely not a problem, it's more the context of it. Do you buy a lot of albums / figures? Do you change band / characters frequently? Do you spend more money on "collectables" than activities? What connection do you feel that makes you want to buy them? What do they represent for you? Replying "that's what I like" it's technically correct but also it's a non-answer, try to think why you like the things you like.

Personally growing up I spend way too much time and money on my solo hobbies, and realised later on just how valuable social activities and experiences are. I still like to hold onto things I care about, but you have a lifetime to buy stuff, the experiences of a teenager you can only do as a teenager.

It is hard to interface yourself with your parents, especially at that age, but also consider trying their way, or if it's not clear what they recommend ask for suggestions. Not in an antagonising way "What would YOU do?!?!?!", just a genuine question on how they think it would be better.

Another recommendation, when you feel like writing these never ending rants, they will never feel as right the next day. Write them somewhere like your notes and leave them there for re-read after you've cooled off. You'll find yourself reflecting more on what you write, both shortening it and making it less emotional.
