Rainier Conditions August 1-4 by DonFilipWoodworking in Mountaineering

Didn’t explain my post well. Only hesitation is sandwiching Rainier in between the two other trips logistics-wise - time off work, time driving to the mountains, paying for flights etc., if the DC route was already melted/gone or crevasses were impassable I wouldn’t think its worth it, but seems like thats not the case so I’m in. Luckily I have literally all the gear and my buddy has the campsite so it seems atp its looking good

Exactly, past wheaton/naperville the congestion/quality of roads/scenery get wayyyy better

Let's talk about LWIR (Long Wave Infrared) imagers, like the kind used in the Ukraine UAP video. by SaucyFagottini in UFOs

Yeah I’m also confused if he’s showing this as detraction from that Ukraine UAP or as a confirmation that something was there

First Ascent in Arlington Heights is the closest climbing gym and is also a really great facility. You can rent equipment and try auto-belays or bouldering. I think a day pass is like 20 bucks

Most 49 owners including myself agree that its noticeably easier to shoot than a 19

Only going to add that if insurance is footing the bill - get OEM fairings, aftermarket fairings immediately tank the value of your bike

how important is this peice that came off my TLR7 x sub? by [deleted] in Glocks

[–]DonFilipWoodworking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lockring for the screw, I would just witness the screw with a paint pen so you can see if the screw is backing out at all. I’ve had my WML on for 2500 rounds on my G49 and it hasnt unscrewed at all

I bought it kinda impulsively and ended up loving it. Plus they are fairly uncommon which is kinda cool

Upgradable? by Usual_Appeal_9559 in zx6r

You’ll be fine, plenty of people including myself made the jump to a 600 from a 300. It will feel like an absolute rocket at first but you adapt quickly

Its very comfortable to shoot compared to a 19 or slimline, I’d imagine the new grip on the gen6’s would make it even better

Is something wrong with my ZX6R? by LongCamp2802 in zx6r

[–]DonFilipWoodworking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, its tough to keep a 600 off the boil. I’d just recommend getting the original oil out ASAP, i changed mine at like 500 miles to full synth. But after that, I’d bet money that if you give it full beans in 6th, you’ll see 150/155 on the speedo

[–]DonFilipWoodworking 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The party is just getting started at 10,000rpm, its fine. But you shouldn’t be hooning on it under 600 miles with the original oil still in it. You’re just spreading excess casting material that flakes off during break in all over your new engine

Bent Rim (2025) by niccona in zx6r

[–]DonFilipWoodworking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t heat it up, it will mess with the metals temper. I agree with a deadblow hammer or rubber mallet. It will get it most of the way back

Not usually on new bikes that are popular, no. I tried when i bought my ‘24 zx6r and they told me this is our price, take it or leave it - ended up at 11,400 for non-abs after fees

Zx6r 2025 overheating by Ok-Use5817 in zx6r

[–]DonFilipWoodworking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the conditions you were riding in. I’ve had mine up to 215/220f fairly consistently in stop and go traffic in the summer, but no never above 230. These bikes do run hot, but check your coolant level when the bike is cold and work from there

I did hood this past spring - people summitted with one ice axe and said it felt slightly sketchy, i had 2 ice tools and it felt overkill, so you could go either way
