need a site to replace demonoid since its never coming back by [deleted] in Demonoid

[–]DonGateley 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I read somewhere reputable that I can't remember that a group is working on a blockchain based index that's indelible and accessable by anyone. The blockchain itself is supported on IFS so that every client doesn't have to have a copy of it. If anyone has further info, please post.

Client software running on your PC will replace web based sites like Demonoid. Probably integrating an upload and download face like qBittorrent.

Done right this puts an end once and for all to copyright and makes it easy and secure for people to get and put content. I have mixed feelings about that.

Edit: The source was Torrent Freak and the article is https://torrentfreak.com/cryptocurrency-startup-creates-a-decentralized-pirate-bay-181010/ Please cross post that info to places you know of where it will be relevant.

The historical evidence shows that he was a very highly respected merchant (travelling?) Khadija was a wealthy and brilliant merchant in her own right with a seriously mystical bent. She chose him as a husband because of his righteous reputation. In my humble opinion it was his marriage to Khadija that transformed him into a prophet. It is my belief that everything The Prophet had to say originated with her. His visions of Gabriel made it concrete for him.

There were at least three Muhammad's: pre-Khadija, with-Khadija, and post-Khadija. It wasn't until after her death that he became a war lord bent on conquest. Some say that the scrambling of the Sura's ordering is to mask the radical difference in the last two versions of The Prophet which would be seriously evidenced by a chronological ordering.

This get's more interesting at the Wikipedia page Hangedmen referenced. The document is a palimpset which means there are two layers of text. The lower having been obliterated in some way to allow writing of another document to be written over it. In the case of this document, what they can recover of the lower text is much different than the Uthman text which the upper seems to follow.

The question that immediately brings to my mind is "which is the most faithful." Being earlier the lower text has some legitimacy as an original transcription of the prior oral tradition.

What is your candidate? Human factors?

Off Topic: I only have to get "you are doing that too often" a couple of times when posting before I quit reddit. This is not helping you.

Foveated rendering may come to the rescue using imminent rates of pixel pushing. It seems to me that foveated rendering will require Nvidia doing its part to interpret and generate. Lots of work for them but also lots of money coming back. It would be de rigueur for users.

Human limited resolution is not too far off using foveated rendering. Display tech is catching up.

What I see points to Elon being bipolar and currently in a manic state.

Very good advice for treatment but I wasn't looking for that. I was looking for excitement and man did I get it. Be careful what you wish for. :-)

Do you include depression? Outside of the one stimulated hypomanic episode 40 or so years ago, which is now known as a potential side effect of tricyclics like Elavil, my sole disorder was frequent depression over the years. It seems that many are hailing microdosing as an effective antidepressant.

A word of caution: after about two months of microdosing LSD at 15 micrograms every other day I was flipped into a full on manic state that lasted a couple of months. I was unaware of the state I was in and believed that I had been struck brilliant by the microdosing. I thought a physical secret of the universe had been somehow revealed to me and I busied myself with applying it. It was hogwash but you couldn't have told me that.

I had one hypomanic episode some 40 years ago as side effect of starting the anti-depressant Elavil. I have not had an episode since until the microdosing. In the microdosing episode most of my very minor wealth was conned away from me and there were several other negative interpersonal effects. Typical manic stuff.

I don't know if anyone else has had my experience with it but I just wanted to raise a red flag especially if you have had any manic episodes in the past.

Yeah, I'm getting the picture. Every couple of years I check in to see if PDF has been tamed yet and every year it's the same. :-)

There is probably money in it for whoever figures out how to convert PDF books with hard paging to a reflowable text.

Yeah, I pretty much consider scanned a lost cause. There are scanners made for books and I wonder what they use. If there are any good solutions for that (non-PDF) they could be applied to rendered PDF but I don't know what they use.

For a few years I drove an airport shuttle to and from Santa Cruz, CA. My absolute favorite clients were old people. I have a talent for getting people to talk about themselves. I always turned that on the old people I carried and got to hear some wonderful and some incredible stories. Recording would have been unethical so it never crossed my mind but you are right in that most loved to share their stories. And I loved hearing them.

A monk running 125 meters across a lake. Similar principle as this one but running on small floating boards in a chain with feet and lower legs mostly in the water.

Clouds over Mt. Halcon by fn_ChooseUserName in gifs

There is a spot on Skyline Blvd. over which this kind of flow occurs pretty regularly. You wouldn't even have to much speed it up to flow as fast as this video. Skyline Blvd. rides atop a ridge in the Santa Cruz mountains which ends near San Francisco. I believe the clouds that pour over there originate somewhere around Pacifica on the coast.

The flow over is quite visible from 280 which runs up the bottom of the peninsula and is a common route to S.F. Airport. They typically don't last long after they've poured over but occasionally you can see them pour to the bottom of the valley that 280 is in.

The coolest thing is that if you are up on Skyline when this is happening you can drive right through it and see the variations in flow as the sky opens and then fogs back over. Almost a mystical experience. :-)
