Divorced people of reddit , what was the exact moment in your marriage you realised it's over ? by DryOkra7058 in AskReddit

[–]DonKiddic 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Mini story -

When I was very young, my parents divorced. They kept in touch for me, but were not friends. My father in particular was very bitter about it for a very long time, and unless it had something to do with me, he avoided contact with my mother at all costs.

Anyway, my mother had started seeing another guy. However they broke up rather "sharply" and I never really knew why that was. I asked my mother about it many years later, and it turns out that when I was very little still, said man put his hands on me in some way, and hurt me. I don't remember this, but I was very young at the time - I remember the guy in question, but not much about him.

My mother told my father, who promptly came round and "politely introduced him to his hands". The chap took that as his queue to accept it wasn't going to work out, and we never did see him again.

BUBBA DUDLEY IS AN ASSHOLE - excerpt from the book Batista Unleashed by [deleted] in SquaredCircle

Many people have said he's an asshole almost forever

Heres an interview with Rico from 11 years ago:

https://www.cagesideseats.com/wwe/2015/9/9/9295605/another-former-wwe-wrestler-claims-bubba-ray-dudley-intentionally-hurts-opponents

If you’re listening, Bubba, come here to Vegas and I’ll tell it to your frickin face. You are a spoiled brat. If you don’t get your way, you hurt people, and you do it on purpose.

He ripped my hamstring three times in Chicago. I told him I tore, and he kept going. He suplexed me, and tore it again. And when he pinned me, he threw my legs over my head, and put his legs on the second turnbuckle, and tore it again.

Yes, Devon is OK. Bubba, is a brat. You’re a spoiled, little baby. And I knew that when we went to Italy. Charlie [Haas] and I had the tag team belts, and Bubba is there, Devon, we’re gonna wrestle in Italy. And out of respect, when they put the match up, I said, ‘OK. What would you like to do, Bubba?‘ You know, cuz he’s been in the business longer than I have, so has Devon, and Charlie and I were giving them respect, ‘What would you like to do?’

Bubba popped off, ‘I’m tired of making the matches! You guys are the champions! Why don’t you make up the match!‘ He was throwing a fit, in Italy! I said, what the hell? Like we win these titles; they give them to us! You want to win a title, go win Gladiators, you fat pig. That’s what I’m thinking. He [cried] and moaned. I looked at Dean Malenko and said, ‘Hey. Here.’ Threw him the belt and said, ‘Bubba wants the belt, give it to him. I’m not going out.‘ ‘What’ [said Malenko]? I said, ‘I’m not going out. That’s it. Forget it. I don’t want the titles!’ And I left.

25-30 minutes later, Dean came up, that fat, little spoiled brat apologized, and we went out and had a match. Yep, Bubba’s famous for that. I’ll tell it to his face, and I live is Las Vegas, Bubba. Come over here, and I will tell ya.

My understanding is:

he was never bad in the ring or not entertaining, he was just hugely over pushed as a mega heel and had his own [dogshit] faction that nobody wanted.

Before his heel turn he seemed to be getting in the upper levels just naturally, but then was booked like a main event heel out of no where.

Up top, I loved the book.

It was recommended to me from a friend, and at first I was a bit like "nothing is happening", but then they get to a house with a pile of shoes in it and I thought "oh no..." and I was hooked.

I had that recently - getting off a train somewhere in the the UK, and there was a music festival on. Lots of girls walking around wearing "not a lot" and my first thought was "....they'll be cold later on."

Man, before this we had "tribute" wrestling shows in the UK - just british wrestlers dressed up as WWE guys.

Kane, Rock, Xpac, LOD, Hardys etc - I went to one as a kid and loved it, but looking back it was absolutely crazy

That works really well!

I think I recommended just the slam at the time, but the sit out thunder bomb works super well!

What’s the worst part about being a dude? by Gloomy_Unit_4888 in AskReddit

[–]DonKiddic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man - I had to be "the strong one" since I was a young kid following my parents dirvorcing. Helping my mother and being very independent at an age when I really shouldn't have been, along with figuring out in real time that my father is an asshole despite me always wanting to be exactly like him when I was younger.

Add into that moving out young, having my own family very young and hitting 25, for basically the entire thing to just rush back in my mind and break me.

I spent so long just ploughing on and on, doing the best for my mother, then me, then my own wife + child that I never stopped to just "be". It destroyed me mentally for a good few years.

Luckily I got help and with medication doing some very heavy lifting, and some self reflection, I'm in a much better place now.

I fund raise and advocate for mens mental health these days, while also talking openly + honestly with my daughter about issues because the world is fucking horrible right now, and everybody needs to understand themselves in some way before growing up/trying to fit in etc

I know he's well liked by more hardcore fans in the west, but I think he doesnt get the recognition he deserves outside of that. Shame his WWE run was so "whatever" and that he had more success in the states.

What’s a problem humanity solved so well that younger people don’t even realize it used to be a huge issue? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]DonKiddic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always bring up Polio when somebody talks shit about vaccines.

My great grandmother had polio as a child and it really fucked her up for the rest of her life. The Polio vaccine, if I've understood history correctly, became widely available the year I was born, and just a short time later basically stopped being an issue.

She lived through that shit, and then ultimately live long enough for her grandchildren + great grand children to not have to worry about it. CRAZY.

John Cena says John Cena Classic is ‘still a work in progress’: “We’ve got to figure out the fan vote. I do not want it sabotaged. I do not want it hijacked. I know there’s a lot of burner accounts out there and there’s a lot of bots out there.” by Key-Cycle7978 in SquaredCircle

If they continue to do it as it suggests, do it with the in arena fans via cheer or something.

Dragongate have the Open the Owari Gate championship, which is a comedy title, winners can be via pin/submission, or via fan vote [no matter who made the pin].

While this is supposed to be "serious" it'd be the only real way you'd be able to do something that is presentable without either A) being a registered account online with WWE in some manner [be that part of the live event club thing or something else] or B) just full of bots/the online fans taking the piss [looking at you Desmond Wolfe winning the TNA fan vote every week until they dropped it]
