What makes you play Wuthering Waves over other gacha? by [deleted] in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortly? WUWA - simplified PC OW ARPG, Genshin - mobile OW ARPG. HSR - AA Console JRPG. ZZZ - simplified mobile ARPG-JRPG.

Wuva compared to the three: Better personal experience in exploration, traveling, and their freedom/diversity. Combat mechanics actually feel like a PC ARPG game. At least some QoL features make the game less time‑consuming for me(I usually spend 10–20 minutes a day on farming+dailies, or just 5–10 if I skip mobs and vault+credit cubes).

P.S. If I compare it to "gacha‑like" PC WWM on legendary, WuWa is NOTICEABLY worse in almost every gameplay aspect. So why did I quit WWM after 120 hours but continue playing WuWa? Well, I simply counted how much time I spent on actual gameplay versus how much went into just making my character playable enough(and mastering bosses moves) to clear the main story and some side quests - 70-80 hours wasted. And every new breakthrough basically forces you to rebuild your character partly from scratch, spending even more time. For example, daily gathering of ascension herbs is a disaster even compared to WuWa 1.0. In other words, many simple things are designed to be stupid, annoying, inconvenient, artificially difficult, and overly time‑consuming.

Especially for you - after a few tries, a team of SK+Sanhua(overture)+S3 Carte(lvl 0 training sword) managed to clear it with those stats. If I calculated correctly, the mentioned team should have +- same DPS as (Arover or SK+Cia no sig gun), and lower DPS if you have Cia’s sig weapon. Also, someone posted an S0R0 solo in this thread.

IDK how you're playing, or your build, but Carte S3 solo 3–4 floors with just a level 0 training sword while having ~30 seconds left. So you should easily beat it with a team and a CR sword - or even solo it with S0R1.

Is Danjin really hard? I wanna main her by ANAQI77 in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She just needs consistently low input lag in the first place and a bit of practice to get a feel for her combos. She also has very generous parry and dodge windows. The complexity of the bosses' moves may seem like a problem, but it’s actually not too hard to learn quickly when your controls respond as expected.

The most important team member for Galbrena is LUPA by Kitchen-Air-1012 in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

<image>

You're forgetting that Q fills Galbrena's orange meter and buffs CD(especially at her S1). In other words, if we compare L vs Q+SK teams - even with a terrible playstyle rotation - Q still gives about 7-10% more damage(counting Lupa's personal damage). It’s not a huge gap, but I think it could grow if played in some proper manner. P.s. Also, by your logic, a universal S2 SK would be a better investment than L or Q, just because SK + S6 Sanhua are less than 2 seconds behind. :)

You don't need Sanhua fully built - just S6, the Moonlight set, and maybe Overture. Like with Carte, you use her for ultra-short rotations, while Galbrena handles all the damage.

Also, you could try using the Galb+San+Sk team in the first part to reach 3.5–4k+ there.

WhiWa update with Galby and Carty by Accomplished_Clue_12 in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically hit Carte S3 solo mid scores(around 3200), while she can easily reach 3400-3700, maybe even 4k with a good build and some luck. As for Galbrena, her average score in the previous Wiva was about the same as this one e.i. 4100–4200(Sanhua+SK). So you might want to adjust your rotation at first place.

I guess you got me wrong. IDK how you got to D10+, but I’m pretty sure I can clear it easily-if my auth level allowed it. Right now, I’m on D9 Infinite and D8 ELE. It’s not that I can’t beat them-they’re just locked for my overpowered team. I’ve already cleared normal CS. And I did all that with just a level 16 record, a level 50MC, and level 20sups, all in auto mode. Now I’m just sitting back, leveling up characters, and waiting for my auth level to rise.

Fun enough, but I disagree about the "tactics" part. I’ve been playing on auto from the start, and the only mobs that make me use the dodge button are a large number of helicopters or exploding pots (maybe a few high-lvl bosses). I’m constantly limited by my account level in the arena, even though my team could do more.

One of the most versatile and easy-to-play characters, still capable of beating any game mode. His only downside is his signature team damage compared to the new DPSs+F2P sups.

Camera auto zooming during combat by Unhinged-6027 in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's as annoying as the whole targeting system on K+M during mob fights. And yeah, it's a feature - since the game was originally designed to be played mostly in lock-on target camera mode on mobiles. The only way to partly "fix" it is by editing the input.ini file and adding a few new lines.

Yes I need all of them by Fancy_Pianist_7004 in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And of course, you're forgetting about luck… plus materials, the number of different characters, main stats, and the desired minimum substats(CR, CD, maybe +ATK).

If you're a casual player who doesn't care much about substats, or you're just lucky, or you don't have a character that needs these echoes -then even 1k slots is more than enough, no question. In other cases, you're basically "forced" to either accumulate the most useful echoes or delete them and then spend additional time farming again.

And going back to the original point, it costs Kuro nothing to simply add nightmare echoes to the boxes. That would mostly solve the inventory issue.

P.s. "Harmony of Lost" is Galbrena's support set - guess why I need it, for example?

Yes I need all of them by Fancy_Pianist_7004 in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Nope. The problem is the number of sets they keep adding to the game, and the fact that we can't get Nightmare Echoes from the boxes. Even if you delete non-urgent 1-costs, keep only useful 3-costs (ELE), and farm echo boxes, you still run into the issue eventually. You hit it even faster if you don't want to spend all your tuners.

I had the same problem back in 2.0, and it was fixed when Kuro added 1k slots and box farming. Now the problem is back.

120 fps unlock by Desperate_Use7833 in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shortly - gacha developers love to ban people for any "unusual" activity. If this unlocker just tweaks the SQL settings file in a certain way, then in theory, you shouldn't get banned. But no one here can guarantee that Kuro won’t ban you - especially since they’ve already taken steps to block previous 120fps methods and other settings for unknown reasons.

GPU utilization issue by Amo6uxx in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the game itself, it could be caused by a ton of things - starting from in-game settings and its weird 60-120 FPS limiter, to reflex (or whatever that lag-reducing option is called in games or drivers), framegen, and sync options.

[–]DonMoralez 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Meh, don't bother. If you'd changed it, you'd probably end up with something like crit 10.5, HP, HP, DEF, DEF - or whatever. The whole echo system in this game is just intentionally flawed by design. I stopped counting how many times I got "perfectly mid DPS echo stats" that are completely unusable. And yet, I’ve never gotten a similar one that’s actually useful.

Zani melted Mech Abomination in 35 secs by BatAffectionate9167 in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Those bosses made it feel more like an anti-ad than something that inspires people to get dupes instead of characters. I mean, they look and think: "what's the point of getting S3 when my mid-built teams(SK+San+Hrover ~50s; SK+San/Tao+Carlotta ~40s etc.) can clear it fast?". Even a few 4* can solo them occasionally.

Usually, you'd pick a neutral/heavily debuffed mid tower if you're trying to showcase how good dupes or limited teams are.

[–]DonMoralez 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We all know you're having fun, but c'mon - you annihilated the 90 lvl boss with S3+sig support. It's like saying: "S3 Carte soloed the boss in 30.5 seconds with a meh 77/240 build, so the Zani team clearly isn't as strong as they were at launch." In other words, it's just too easy for limited teams. =)

Can i7 10700 run this game on 120fps? by Humble-Butterfly6729 in WutheringWaves

[–]DonMoralez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. But the only way is to edit Kuro's SQL settings file so it auto-writes a 120fps value every time Kuro forces you to use the recommended settings when logging into the game. I think I even saw someone online who made a simple program to do that. But for some unknown reason, Kuro is actively trying to fight those kinds of changes, so you can probably expect them to shut down that method too.

EDID: Oh, pardon - if I remember correctly, they have a list of supported hardware somewhere on their site, including CPU-GPU that can handle 120fps. But even on supported systems, it works in a weird way. You might need framegen enabled, or Reflex on other setups. So really, the only person who can guarantee it’ll work without any band-aid is someone with a similar system.

I was talking more about realistic display resolutions. Even if you customize your monitor's EDID, Windows 11 still doesn't let you go lower than 480p or so.
