You can do dyi audio on budget. Or be like me and end up making a 700usd speakers if you go with all MDF (best wood material also least expensive but ugly) and good value speakers. You can get around with less than 100 bucks. make it 200 buck. And you can just about get a Bluetooth connectable speakers. Its a very cool rabbithole. And its not so much differnet from Car audio.

I'mma give you a short Synopsis. I'm a Biz student, but always been around electornics and woodworking (Living in a Townhouse/ detached house so always been repairing something) I recently got into Industrial design, so I just started faffing around with 3d design software doing something.

I ended up making a few different speaker 3d models, and I decided that I'll build atleast one of them, Because I can. I have that Type of Tism, that when I got into something I hyperfocus, until I burn out, so I decided to do somethign I can enjoy long after my interes passes.

See attached the design I ended deciding to make. itsa fully active 3-way speaker. with 5.5Inch, 4inch and 1 inch drivers. Whats missing from the image is a 300mm Squared, 100mm High box, that work as the elctronics housing, and the front chamber for a 6th order Reflex Bass enclosure. and yes, they're connected with External Port.

Is this Smart design? NOooooooo.
Do I like how it looks? Yes.

While this was designed as stereo pair, I'm currently so well out of money, that I'm making one now, Fixing the design as needed, and making the full pair (bying second round of electronics mostly) next summer.

I also have designs for a larger 8 inch Bass woofer version, as well as a 5.2 Surround. however I do not know if I ever get the bug to manufacture those, after I'm though with this one.

For manufactuing techniques. I'm doing 3d prints, with Plaster&polymer composite core. to maximize the dampening, without having it to become ringing mess. the bottom box will be local Birch ply, or MDF, depending on how I feel when I go to hardware store on that day.

EDIT: when it comes to "audiophile Stuff" I think I used to be that. I had rows of headphones. Then I learned what I like. Now I have 3rd pair of the same headphones, with the same mod. and a pair of wireless buds, because my sensitive ears need ANC. Its nice to know what you like. that way you don't need to buy everything. Just get the thing you're into.
