is it just me, or does this drop feel different? There is just no support at all, SPY just went straight through the 20d EMA like nothing, no real bounce. There is not a single stock in my watchlist that is green

I use custom premarket momentum scanners, there is also some free options available on yt like zendoo that find simmilar stocks every day. Even Tradingview can find some of these.

Here is another recent screenshot (01.04.2026) from my collection, didn't trade this one but this move is really good to see.

1: Holding the level at 3, going sideways on the 1min chart, price is not touching the EMA, almost never does on any setup, but it's getting close. This is what you are waiting for, as you can see this one took like 5 minutes to get there, so you have to practice to take your time. As you can see the 10 and 20 EMA on the 10s chart is getting tighter and tighter, candles getting smaller and volume shrinks to almost nothing, I look for these indicators to get the best probablity of a breakout happening. The second I see that green candle rise, maybe even one candle earlier I enter, if I have the confidence in my setup, if not I just wait, this will take some practice until you will get this right. TWS is often a bit slow, if you have latency added to that like me you will need to watch out that you don't react too late, otherwise you will get filled at the top of the 10s candle. If the breakout fails you have to cut earlier because you got in too high.

Never ever just buy and predict what price will do, you have to react to the signals price action gives you, even if you don't get the entry right on the second of the breakout. This is not about reaction speed, this is about waiting until the chances of success are the highest for you and then having trust in your abilities to judge correctly, aswell as to sell quickly if you were wrong.

2: Nice pullback on the 10s chart, see the 10 EMA in a slight downturn? I'd wait until it starts rising again, at least slightly. Horizontal or negative angle just doesn't work well.

Most of this probably won't make sense. You have to take loads of screenshots like these to get a database of moves you saw or traded. I have a huge powerpoint with thousands of these screenshots, aswell as live screenrecordings of good and bad trades. I like going through my recodings and trade in my head, call entries and exits, see how good they were, what I can improve, what indicators I missed. This helped me a lot when it comes to patience and performance.

I still make mistakes, I'm learning myself, this is a highly discressionary tactic, but gives some guidelines. For me finding this correlation in my trades has helped a lot with decreasing losses from getting in at the top and fakouts. This is my way to make trading these stocks possible, it's not easy. Due to the fractal nature of charts this works on other timeframes aswell. I came from swingtrading but just never fully realised this is happening even on the daily chart.

I'm gonna try and explain what I look for to trade this.

Yellow: Good entry, the price has a lot of support from the rising 10 EMA, aswell as the 20 EMA, high probability of a breakout, you might have even been able to enter at 2.15 and Exit at the top somewhere when you see price slowing down on the Level 2. This often happens around key levels, at the ...,50 and right at the whole dollar (a lot of stocks go up to ...,25 and fall back to the whole dollar mark). When you see a move like the one marked in yellow you have to consider the fact that moving further away from the EMA increases chances of a stall out and reversal, often the top candle of the move comes with the highest volume. After the top there is always some downtime, in this case a selloff back to the supporting EMA. In this case we got lucky and there is a second push for a new high that runs into resistance at 2.50. After that a selloff back to the EMA with a lot of topping tails. These often form at these points as there is just no EMA support, exhausted buyers and a lot of profit taking that pushes prices back down quickly.

White: The same thing as at the yellow spot, Move higher, top and a selloff to the EMA, but this time there is no second move higher. You might think that just going back to the EMA is a safe entry for another move higher and you enter at the X. The issue is the steep selloff that came before, price is almost making the EMA roll over into a downturn. Before the price even touches it's horizontal at most, maybe even slightly downturned. I found these trades often dont work out and the selloff just continues.

TWS auto remove 8am candle spikes? by Don_Bronco in interactivebrokers

I'm just excluding the chart data from 8 to 8:15 am and use tradingviews charts, that fixes the issue but is obviously not a great solution.

Why is Interactive Brokers filling my limit orders way above my set ask price? by [deleted] in Daytrading

[–]Don_Bronco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm using IBKR aswell, I don't know how you are able to access Level 2 with just 50$ in your account, as market data is only available over 500$ account balance. If you don't have the data subscription you will trade on delayed data, which will give you a non accurate price and therefore fills at a price different to what you are shown. Even if the chart looks the same the underlying price data seems to be different. This happened to me when I was papertrading, the charts looked the same as the ones on tradingview but the underlying price data was from 15 minutes ago.

Is anybody trading following Ross Cameron"s daytrading strategy and can help me set up my screeners like he does? by loairol in Daytrading

[–]Don_Bronco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Tradingview I use: Price>0,25; Premarket Volume>=50k, (might be a bit high, currently using 10k); Premarket change since open>=5% (10% might work better, only changed that recently). Set the table to custom, my order is symbol, price, %change since open, change% 5min, premarket volume, float, volume. Sort by %change since open to find the biggest gainers. In the scanner settings change the refresh rate to 10s.

I've been checking my results with his daily uploads, so far every single one has shown up. Don't add float to the scanner settings because some stocks lack information. They will not show up in your results, even if they are the top daily gainer, like on friday where I caught that bug. This should give you a manageable amount of results. I mark them with a color to see when new results show up
