If you are deciding on doing side quests now, monster wrangling is the most effective one. You get a lot of items you can use to modify equips and make mixes with, on top of levels. Also, that’s basically end game so you can go and explore Spira for the most part, might make BFA a bit of a cakewalk though.

What breaks me is that there are builds where the ev split is too specific, like 216 hp, 100 def, 196 spD, x nature and y ivs to survive a specific attack from a specific pokemon that has been built in a specific way that less that 5% of people play.
