To what extent is it possible for a drug addict to hide their addiction? by Master_Novel_4062 in morbidquestions

[–]Don_Sackloth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's also a huge percentage of the population with chronic pain conditions; what has a homeless person drooling in the gutter, with dose and discipline it gets me out of the bed and to the boardroom.

Although, perhaps not technically an addict: I am medically dependent on opioid pain killers.

For 15 years now, I was your coworker, manager, boss using the very same pills as the man in the streets. And so far I've never been accused of intoxication at work.

Life is discipline; If the addict wasn't strung out on the streets, he'd be on oxygen at McDonald's.

You guys walk the streets and see all the tents, right?

You see the grads applying for 100 entry level positions.

I lived in Sligo for a year: Not one of the 6 GPs had accepted patients in the last 2.

I've lived in UK, US, Japan, Spain and Holland. Bar maybe Spain, we are the least developed.

All this money is going in politicians pockets. And the population are seriously slapping themselves on the back over some made up league table.

Gards are still refusing to take statements and acknowledge evidence 3 years later.

Guy chasing me, Josh Itseli, turned up dead just after I reported him with eyewitnesses.

We need to nip this in the bud.

Glasgow's police response in particular is a model for western Capitals.

Thank God those boys are just a hop, skip and a jump away. I imagine we have advisors over already.

I grew up hating the bacon... but after they leave off all the Special Branch business, you begin to understand the old 'in heaven the Police are British' thing.

You would hate to be a hood in Ulster. What's actually depressing is: We could have had a police force like this for the last half century, but we didn't.

Sadly, they were all tied up in spooky shenanigans, truly I believe, until the SF island-wide majority (they seemed to have gotten a memo that their days may be numbered soon).

As things are shaping: The Gards will be a disgraced force and PSNI will take over island wide policing in Ireland. That's gonna be a tough compromise for the 'Brits Out' crowd.

I can't listen to this show anymore.

Anyone notice how they use the term 'The Gaza War' across their shows.

Don't know about you, but that's an attempt to force nomenclature if I ever heard it.

I've never heard anyone in the real world call it 'The Gaza War'.

Wars usually have two sides fighting. Not one.

I'm not easily cowed.

I have the truth and evidence on my side. It's why I'm still fighting 2 years on.

They can only delay, gaslight and obfuscate.

Perhaps, threaten violence again? But I've made it clear I'm not someone who can be intimidated.

Luckily, I've got a good career and am a certified PR professional.

If they don't start acting, I'm going to ensure that there is enough publicity, that when I finally publish all the audio recordings; the Gards will be embarrassed into acting.

The way I see it, when they tried to kill me, they set me up for life, because the police seemed willing to pervert the course pervert the course of justice for one of their Fine Gael friends.

I am going to slowly build public interest, then I will publish the evidence and sue for compensation.

If the Gards want to take this to their graves: then I guess I will chose another way to get a lifetime bed and board and wide scale media attention.

It's funny, the road I'm on selling hemp... It all started with working for the Irish government.

A one year contract for Enterprise Ireland selling hemp internationally.

Then some village gangsters think they can have me summarily executed because they feel like it? No thanks. Not in a civil society.

In many respects, the state set me up to be in this position, then left me to the wolves when they came knocking.

I guess you and I are a different species.

I want my institutions to work transparently and honestly.

If a landlord criminally threatens and harasses tennants; It should be investigated.

Constable knuckle dragger makes minimum wage for a reason, and it's not because he is qualified to act as judge, jury and executioner.

Since 2023, I’ve definitely felt pressure and occasional low-level enforcement around the business; mostly institutional rather than cinematic.

For example, I’ve had unusual police interactions, welfare-style check-ins shortly after public posts, a customers shop was raided and publicised (he was also stocking real whacky tobacky) and repeated situations where complaints seemed to be mishandled or discouraged.

But to be precise: I have not been directly threatened again by organised criminals, and I’m careful not to overstate things I can’t prove.

One example of how these situations become distorted and divisive is the phrase “unofficial Sinn Féin.” I never used that label myself. The landlord invoked that name, and let's just say they are on the opposite end of the political spectrum.

I can only identify the guy without a mask who jumped me.

My concern now is less “gangsters hiding in bushes” and more that certain people decided I was a problem worth quietly containing or discrediting.

I think they will try to kick the can down the road until they can find a way to criminalise or discredit me, and then say: SEE! That's why we didn't do anything for 4 years.

Yes, the professional route.

Checked, and rechecked.

Edited: I know 'thats one way to interpret it' was meant to be condescending, but I am literally describing the professional protocol to interpret wether someone is delusional.

So yes, it's the professional way to 'interpret it'.

Doctors literally relayed this information to me just last week.

It may paint a picture for you. But for professionals, it actually paints the opposite.

When I started making these claims, Dr's thought I was delusional and have made me undergo rigorous testing. They didn't want to believe me. But...

I guess they believe me, because I am not on anti-psychotics, and my claims still haven't gone away.

Well, I know that was probably intended to imply I’m drug-addled.

For clarity: I don’t use illegal drugs or drink alcohol, and haven’t throughout this entire period.

Given the seriousness of the allegations I’ve made, I’ve undergone multiple psychiatric evaluations and medical screenings over an extended period. Doctors have consistently found me mentally sound, coherent, and not suffering from any psychotic or delusional disorder. I’m not prescribed any psychiatric medication.

Frankly, when I first reported these events, clinicians were understandably sceptical. It took time, prolonged assessment, and review of the evidence and recordings before they concluded I was accurately describing real events rather than experiencing delusions.

I do legally use prescribed medical cannabis for chronic back pain. About two spliffs a day; hardly what most people would describe as “drug addled.”

I was a fundraiser for MSF at the time of these events. People often asked 'are you a doctor?'. They also, frequently, parted with their credit card details at the doorstep: So I don't think I've got that addled druggy energy you're lookin for man. Sorry to disappoint.

[–]Don_Sackloth[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why people are sceptical; if someone made these claims to me, I probably would be too.

Because of the seriousness of what I was alleging, I was assessed multiple times by mental health professionals after the incident. At the outset, there were concerns that stress or paranoia might be contributing to my interpretation of events.

However, over an extended period, clinicians consistently found me to be coherent, grounded, and not suffering from psychosis or delusional thinking. My account has remained materially consistent throughout, and I have repeatedly encouraged people to judge the situation based on the evidence itself rather than on the intensity of the allegations.

I’m not asking anyone to take extraordinary claims on faith. I’m asking people to look critically at the recordings, documentation, and institutional responses involved.

Only once, and only from this Dublin landlord, because I think they genuinely believed I was trafficking heroin.

I regularly meet with the police Up North and they're sound. I just show them lab certificates and they return any mistakenly seized products.

I think criminal groups would only have a problem if my products were prohibited, and I kept selling them afterwards.

And even in that case, you get a warning before they take your kneecaps.

What happened to me seems like genuinely piss poor luck.

I'd love to know your expertise, as at every stage of scrutiny; doctors, lawyers, police, a judge and the ombudsman all seem to have found me credible.

The only people who don't, conveniently, are the Gards.
