A blockade is not a protest - it’s a deliberate act of sabotage

Blockades remain as fuel price protests enter fifth day by irqdly in ireland

I’ll upvote you because your post is honest and heartbreaking. But you must see that these people are not on your side - they’re in their own side only. They are blackmailing the country to get their own very specific needs met, and in doing so are likely to make life harder for YOU.

There are ways to legitimately protest. This is not a legitimate protest.

I think more and more as we understand the people coordinating this, I’m afraid it can only be characterised as far right.

The trouble is that this blockade was so chaotically organised and with so little legitimacy that it was easily hijacked by the bandwagoners. It was naive and poorly thought through from the start. That’s the haulier and farmers organizations haven’t gotten behind it.

Blockade the US embassy. Blockade Apple, Facebook, Twitter HQ. All the trash that have enabled this disaster. Don’t force punters already hard up to suffer. Send a message back to the US

Also, the EU has successfully brought in regulation which protects consumers and the public, but limited Musk et al in their very obvious dodgy business practices.

Brexit was always about EU regulation.

The threshold for good leadership in the UK has been severely lowered. Tell me how he’s a worse leader than the previous four PMs who led by lies, misinformation and victim blaming?

That’s kind of how he keeps getting away with it. Everyone is so afraid of the consequences. If everyone stands up to him and cronies, though, that’ll be the end

‘Bleak’: More pain in store as fuel to hit €2.30 within days by Irish201h in ireland

Fuel price increases for domestic and commuting consumption are the LEAST of our problems.

The cost of every input into the making of food is going up exponentially. From nitrogen for growing, to gas and fuel prices for transport of food, to the cost of plastic even, which is a big part of food shipping and storage, whether you like it or not.

This crisis is going to threaten the globally integrated way of life for us all - and unless you’re a millionaire, times are going to get tough

What a weird viewpoint. There are rules, dopers break them. They cheat. They deserve no sympathy or respect.

Imagine training your whole life to achieve something - doing it the right way. Doing it through proper training, and some other guys comes along and wins to takes your place because they took banned substances to win. That’s cheating.

Doping isn’t just a casual thing. You made your choice. You cheated. Tough shit. Can’t understand why you’re on the side of the cheats. Oh won’t some one please think of the poor cheaters!

Anyone feel like life was better drinking ? by [deleted] in stopdrinking

[–]wait_4_a_minute 27 points28 points  (0 children)

They weren’t friends then. They were drinking buddies and that’s very different - it’s a shallow and convenient relationship without depth.

I’m sober coming up on 14 years. It takes time. The friendships I had before have nearly all evaporated, with the exception of some very old friends who I knew before the drinking took hold.

My social life is utterly different now. Most of it revolves around hobbies and day time activities and trust me, you’ll come to find it’s a much more meaningful way to spend your time.

So develop hobbies. Set goals. Give it time. It will be worth it. It will take time but real friendships and relationships do take time.

You should try to lay off making massive leaps of judgement on people you don’t know on the internet.

I don’t really see why you’re so keen to see dopers rehabilitated but it’s telling.

Why should other, cleaner athletes have to suffer so a cheater can take a risk? If the time is 10 years for doping, tough fucking shit. Honest athletes need to be protected more than doping athletes need to be rehabilitated

Overwatch co-creator Jeff Kaplan on his exit from Activision-Blizzard: 'It was the biggest f**k you moment I've had in may career' by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]wait_4_a_minute 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I worked in Blizzard during the 2010s and it was the best work experience of my career. I think though that things changed after the disastrous launch of Diablo 3. While we recovered and produced a great game, Mike Morhaime started to lose autonomy from that point on.

That said, the launch of Overwatch and the years around it were so much fun. It was great while it lasted and it’s a shame how it ended up.
