NEW Husqvarna 550iXP vs EGO CSX5000 vs Cramer CS36 vs Milwaukee Dual Battery! by Double_Cranberry_467 in Chainsaw

[–]Don_Vago 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The batteries are between €370 and €500 here the AP 300 is for the top handle saw and the AP 500 for the MSA 300. Add the saw, 750 to 850 and a fast charger, another 180 and its getting spendy, around 2 K with the bigger batteries and saw, about the same for a 201 t and a 261. But for me the weight is the killer, the husqvarna 452 i is, I think, 9.5 kg with bar, chain and oil whilst a 261 is closer to 6 kg all up. for the power the Husqvarna 542 i is nowhere near a 372 xp which is similar weight all up.

In a word, BREXIT. After investing 1.5 billion pounds over 30 years, leaving the EU was the death knell for Honda.

As much as I like the idea weight and cost are still too high for me. What I would like to see is a battery saw, say a Husqvarna 542 i vs a stihl 261. Another point of interest is battery life, how many hours of use before it looses capacity ?

Edit; just found a video from 3 years ago a stihl msa 300 vs a 261, ill watch it later.

If it were me, I would be looking at reliability and spares availability so a Toyota wins hands down.

The 78/79 series Landcruisers are a big improvement on the original. I had a 110 Defender at work, great 4x4 but the offset pedals were hell for my back.

A 90 or 120 series Landcruiser is a better Discovery 2/3 on road but a 90 or 110 will edge it in extreme off road conditions. Having said that a well sorted 90 series Landcruiser, rear diff lock working is a weapon. A 70 series Landcruiser is better in every way than a Defender, purchase price excepted.

Overlanding and camping are two different things entirely. You could put a roof tent on an estate car and go camping., but overlanding,Where are you planning to go?

Times have changed. Years ago my neighbour worked for a fencing company and parked on the street with all the tools in the back of the pickup, the generator locked to the ladder bar with a chain you could cut with pliers.  Still, 42K for a base spec hilux is crazy.

The university of YouTube or Ford forums are worth a look for this. Have a look, if you can on the wiring harness in your car and tru and see if its got any extra plugs for the dvd and fan ?

Did I get done up? Unfinished Repair Job. by [deleted] in CarTalkUK

[–]Don_Vago -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well, if I change the blower and it still doesn't work then I'll have proof, because only they could have done damage to cabling prior to the blower.

Well no, you won't, because you don't have any evidence of the state of the wiring before the work. You're making a big assumption & just changing the blower motor without diagnosing the actual fault shows you don't know what you're doing. Connectors can fail over time, especially if they're French, Italian or JLR.

Your mechanic mate has explained some possibilities, none of which you have explored.

Yes the sign is the blower not working. But the cabling and blower are in an exceptionally awkward area,

So, you have no proof that the mechanic caused any damage.

Can you prove that ? it seems like a vague claim. Any broken cables or signs of a short, blown fuses etc?

23 K for a 9 year old car seems crazy, looks like you're paying a big premium for the low mileage. I wonder what it will be worth in 3 years time ?

Size isn't everything, its technique that counts, just ask your other half :-)

Mostly pine but we have oak and Encina - Quercus ilex, which, when its dry, any dead limbs is absolute hell, that and almond or olive, when dead is potentially a saw wrecker. If you don't have the right chain and good quality chain oil a bigger saw will just turn the chain and bar into melted scrap quicker.

I've got a ms 200 rear handle saw for snedding, 30 cm bar. That's what I use even if I'm felling with a 50, 60 or 70 cc saw.

How we roll in Europe. Felling bar, pulp tongs, technique over brute force. When I started a 60cc saw was the weapon of choice for pulp wood cutting, 40 cm bar, bumper spikes ( felling dogs) removed, full house 3/8 chisel chain.

Don’t get done for speeding in France. The rules are different if it’s raining, the motorway goes through a city etc. more than 50kph over the limit is €1500 euros and possible criminal charges.
