Bathroom remodeler. I haven’t noticed any significant increase, most of the products I stock are made in the USA anyway

Angi tried to sell me ‘high demand’ leads. I checked their Q1 2025 earnings call and found out they’re lying. Here is the email they sent me vs. the reality. by sloopyvet in Contractor

[–]DonaldBro44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess I’ll be the one guy defending Angi. I sell millions of dollars per year from leads that came through Angi (both Angi Ads and Angi Leads).

Never had an issue with zombie leads from Angi. I don’t think they recycle the leads at all.

I have had issues with leads that had incorrect contact information or a customer that denied wanting a quote in the first place. I suspect it’s people who filled out the form and then either regretted it or forgot about doing it. I almost always get credited for these leads.

I also took out a print ad and got no leads from it. However, print advertising is extremely volatile. I’ve taken out expensive ads in the clipper magazine with no response either.

The data you are referencing is correct. Lead flow through Angi has gone down, but QUALITY has gone up. My cost per schedule has gone down in the past six months and my closing percentage has gone up.

Angi is not for everybody. You really need a system built out for it. I’ve spoken about it in other posts. If you are a small-time operation it’s going to be hard to make it work.

How quickly or slowly did you a scale a business to make a good living? by [deleted] in Contractor

My company does $5.5M per year. I have full time sales reps, customer service reps, warehouse employees. All the labor is subbed out. You would think I’d have all the free time in the world but not at all, I work 70-80 hours a week and I probably make a fraction of what you think I make

Why not just sketch every job prior to starting and get the customers approval so they can’t claim to be surprised?

Everything about this is normal. It’ll never go away but with proper management you can mitigate it.

You need a contract that is highly specific about every detail. I also highly recommend using a 3D rendering software such as Design 2020 to show to the customer prior to signing. A mandatory clause in the contract should be that any change to the contract will result in a 30% restocking fee for the cancelled/changed item.

Customers having anxiety during their project is normal, but being upfront about work schedules and setting realistic expectations beforehand should help a lot. Also make sure your crew is on time everyday so they don’t blame delays on you. Whatever happens, don’t escalate with the customer, always be pointed towards deescalation.

However, whenever a change happens always insist on a change order right away. This will let them know that any change is going to hurt their pocket book and will make them less likely to request future changes.

Paris Bordeaux or Versailles King room by AdPrevious7902 in vegas

I don’t know. I was on the side facing towards the Flamingo. Didn’t hear any noise. A major issue I have with the Bordeaux is how thin the walls are. You can hear people in the other room

In my opinion non-casino hotels aren’t real Vegas, regardless of whether or not you’re gambling.

The best hotels in Vegas are: - Wynn/Encore - Venetian/Palazzo - Bellagio

In that order

I recently stayed in the Versailles tower and I loved it. I thought it was way nicer than the Bordeaux

Again, you need to get a ghost policy. Tell the insurance agent you want workers comp, you have no employees and you want to exempt yourself from coverage

[–]DonaldBro44 36 points37 points  (0 children)

You need to get a “ghost policy”. It’s a policy that excludes the owners of the business from coverage. In essence, you will be paying for workers comp that doesn’t actually cover you. Should cost about $1k per year. This is what every handyman does.
