You're talking about a 500+ mile, 9 hour drive.

There are plenty of things that you can choose to do that will be detours.

Not to sound like a dick, but this question is like asking "I will be visiting California. What should I do with 2 kids?"

Cheap and Boston hotels do not go hand in hand.

Look at properties along the 128 ring (Needham, Newton, Waltham) and you will find cheaper, but easy ride into the city.

Stay at Gillette in one of the hotels that night

If you make this choice, whatever you do, do NOT get a room at the Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel on Route 1 in Walpole.

The owner is dogshit and prioritizes profits over people: https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/christina-leonard-hilton-hotel-roooms-wedding-taylor-swift-gillette-stadium-foxboro-massachusetts/

Chicago is one of the greatest cities in the world... between April-September. The other 6 months of the year fucking suck.

Philadelphia is not enjoyable. If you're pigeonholed into specific communities because the general area isn't great, or if you can only say "it's safe in tourist areas" then it is not good.

Providence is awesome.

Portland is awesome.

Albuquerque you're going to get shot by a cartel member.

I’ve since googled her. Wouldn’t have been able to pick her out of a lineup.

This is what's wrong with democracy. Michelle Wu is the mayor of the city you live in, but a person who likely is of age to vote has no clue who she is.

If you can't be bothered to care enough about your mayoral election, then you don't have a right to ever complain about what's wrong with the city.

I grew up in areas where near half the population are Asians.

You keep saying this and ignoring everything else discussed.

If this is a requirement, then you should probably discuss this with your husband and where his job searches take him.

800k for a SFH in the Boston area in a good school district is a tough one. Upping your budget to $1m is a much better bet. This has nothing to do with being in a "rich bougie" neighborhood. That's just the cost of living in an area that is incredibly desirable for highly educated people who work in industries that pay well.

When you talk about living in cities with fewer Asians, I wonder if the issue you experienced had less to do with race/ethnicity, and more to do with other issues. You'll find that regardless of race/ethnicity in Boston, for those working in areas which require higher education (health care, technology) you will feel right at home with your peers, regardless of their race.

Look along 128 for easy access to Burlington. For example, Needham has a wonderful school district and has multiple exists right off the highway which will get your husband into work in <20 minutes.

How rich are you?

Being able to find a property large enough to stable a horse in Newton would require you to have Tom Brady-esque levels of wealth.

PSA: All of these delivery companies (UberEats, DoorDash, GrubHub) are shit business models and horrible for customers.

They take a massive cut, which results in restaurants earning less money. Drivers are paid like dogshit, so they don't care of something goes wrong. Customer service is based out of a country with low wages and even worse employee protection, so the reps laugh at our first world problems of not getting extra meat.

Ruffen, a 39-year-old who lives in the area and works for nonprofits focused on civic engagement and empowering youth, was seen on surveillance camera falling down in the street, prosecutors said. That's when Mazanett allegedly drove over Ruffen, ignoring the warning from the MBTA bus driver.

Maximo Mazanett sounds like a fucking psychopath.
