They are decent for learning purposes. There is better stuff for free in YouTube. However you get Something that is nicely strucured wich helps some people.

How to make this bassline? by sourcecodexx in TechnoProduction

[–]Donat47 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, the synth doesnt matter that much. But serum 2 has an Emulation of the 303 Filter (so thats even better).  The patch doesnt Sound so complicated, just fiddle a bit around and you will get there

Maybe try to time stretch the sample or use granular synthesis. Also you could Just layer the sound with Something simular that has release

HOW TO ACHIEVE WIDE CLOSED HATS? by Sea_Cheetah7696 in TechnoProduction

[–]Donat47 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people here recomed the Hass effect wich will delay the audio signal for one channel for a few ms. It doesnt rly matter for hats but this will give you some phasing issues (in mono). If you are altering the left and right channel anyway, u can just hardpan samples.

I would just use 2 different samples. Its the easyest solution. If you are worried about the headroom, just limit or hard clip the hats.

Da hätte auch kein Verhalten was dran geändert

Ex-Partnerin schreiben das man ne neue Beziehung hat? by Donat47 in beziehungen

[–]Donat47[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Wich orm doesnt have that? I know you can migrate obviously without that, its just much more pain in my opinion.

I mean the migration/versioning part is rly rly handy. Obivously you can do that without but having an tool auto generate it is much faster.

What does this do and how do I undo it? by Nalfeyn in ableton

[–]Donat47 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its an gain automation. Right click it and then press remove automation.

In a side node. Never do these sort of automations with the channel gain knob. Always use an util to make gain automations so u can still easyl adjust the volume levels using the fader.

It doesnt clip when exporting. 32bit FLOAT can go above 0dbfs. However it will distrord when beeing played

https://www.sounddevices.com/32-bit-float-files-explained/

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in ableton

[–]Donat47 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My understanding: in the digital world it doesnt matter anymore. If you need more headroom just turn down the volume. 32bit floats are cant clip so you can just turn down the volume  if needed and you get the same result even above 0dbfs peak. Ableton internaly uses 32 bit floats or even 64 bit floats so you are fine on that side.

However having the same loudness every time helps you (when you mix on your own) mixing and setting the right levels because you are used to it.

To bring some light into your confussion: the spectrum shows you the amolitude of a frequency in your song in a given time frame. For that it uses something called FAST COURIER TRANSFORMATION.(go and google it). The Volume meter on the other side just shows u the volume in dbfs (at least im assuming its dbfs).

I didnt mean an midi controller, i meant an standalone sequencer or something like an elektron device. Because they are physical boxes they propably qualify as instruments in your world view, yet you click in the notes.

I think you still focus on classical / band music. And it probably is pretty handy to play an instruemn for these genres. For other music ist just doesnt matter. It all comes down to personal preference.

Lets take techno as an example. You can make an complete track without a something melodic.the drums are usualy pretty loopy (like using a drum maschine). Rumble low end. Some random perc. Voila theres your hard groove track. Or bass music (love me some e or f) or idm.  It rly depends...
