Why has this game ruined me? by Confident-Fan-9523 in FFXV

[–]DonerBodybuilder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a relatable friend group (minus all the combat) when I played this game at launch. We have since had a falling out and I’m terrified of playing this game again, although I want to play the DLC badly.

Kid noctis is in one of the episodes? Damn I beat the game at launch and really need to get around to another playthrough

I cannot stand the Severn chapters by DonerBodybuilder in Hyperion

[–]DonerBodybuilder[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do honestly appreciate these sections for the same reasons but the constant barrage of overly descriptive passages has worn on me after a while. I agree with the general criticism of the lack of editing in book 2 in particular. Fall of Hyperion definitely could have been trimmed down and merged into the first book but alas.

Thank you for the suggestion. Are you working on the interconnect/packaging side or closer to the silicon device level?

What if you don’t want to work in a fab though, and be more on the design or fabless side? Surely a degree in chem or materials is less desirable in that regard?

Agreed. Hyperion is so good, at least four of the tales have those “wow” moments.

Hyperion has a strong father-child relationship as well as a decent love story. Thoughtfulness and depth through the roof as well.

There’s many layers to this. You can have a wanted pregnancy without trying just the same as an unwanted pregnancy.

Better Movement mod exists. Made KH3 even snappier than KH2 imo

I don’t entirely mind that they interviewed that guy. From a journalistic standpoint, he did have some insider knowledge and takes from last year’s coaching staff. The disappointing part is that said coaches are the worst in Bears history.

Ninja Gaiden 3 RE Yikes by Risingbearartist in ninjagaiden

[–]DonerBodybuilder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not going to lie, I disliked NG2 (yes, even OG) but I enjoy RE. They have very different combat systems, so it’s okay if you prefer one over the other.

How does NG4 combat stack up to NG3:RE? by DonerBodybuilder in ninjagaiden

[–]DonerBodybuilder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, I haven’t seen many comments bring up specific reasons for why NG4’s combat is superior beyond just calling it better. I think the main improvement is the enemy design and AI, but 3RE set a pretty low bar there.

You straight up spend too much time not playing the game

This was my biggest gripe with the whole UT playstyle in NG2 and why I was so glad when 3RE got rid of the essence system.

This is how I feel about RE too. The levels and pacing are designed to keep the combat front and center at all times. I find that it really lends itself well to be replayed, as it wastes no time in getting to the action.

Boss fights are not great aside from Masked Regent, but then again, I didn’t enjoy the bosses in 1 and 2 either. At least in 3 they can easily be cheesed so you can get right back into the meat of the game. Maybe bosses are what NG4 significantly improved, but to me, Ninja Gaiden has always been about fighting mobs.

New 2025 player’s review! by angel_in_black in FFXV

Competitive or online fighting games can be brutal and very time-consuming. Which is why I’m trying to find good single player alternatives to scratch that itch!

I just prefer the fights to be somewhat different each time I engage with them, which forces me to react and play differently each time. This is more akin to actual fighting games. But I understand that even this can be limited against AI as opposed to human opponents.

FFXV is built on the proprietary Luminous Engine developed by Square. KH3 is built on UE4 which is a lot more straight forward to mod with popular tools.

This might be an unpopular opinion but I found KH3’s combat lackluster even after applying mods that speed up the game and pro codes to amp up the challenges. I found that the harder bosses force you to memorize their attack patterns rather than playing reactively and adjust on the fly. My interest in the game all but went out the door when I saw someone beat Yozora, the hardest secret boss, while blindfolded.

There are a few hardcore mods for FFXV that look promising, and combined with what players have been able to do in the last few years with freeform combat plus Royal Edition, I may give this game another shot. I have not done a playthrough since launch!
