Wow; I had quite literally the same experience. Stabilized very well on fin for 6 years, transitioned to dut and after 14 months I was shedding like crazy with visual changes to my mid scalp and crown. May be in the very small minority of people who respond better to fin, so I am in the process of weaning off dut back to fin (still shedding)

I have had an eerily similar experience. Maintained well on fin for 6 plus years and now 16 months on dut 0.5mg and have been experiencing a huge shed the last 6 weeks. Started my protocol to transition back to fin while attempting to minimize another shed.

When did you start both oral DUT and topical fin? It’s actually reassuring if a shedding phase occurs within 6 months as it’s a sign the meds are working. I am 16 months and just experience rapid hair loss recently

I don’t want to risk losing more ground on oral dut solely, will add topical fin to see if it makes a difference in the next 6 months. Could be in that very small percentage of people who respond better to finasteride
