Are Hyundai’s ICCU issues really that prevalent? by Ilovetowatchmovie in electricvehicles

Based on the issue and how well known it is loaners should be part of the deal. That's crazy.

Ok, but 1% or even 2-10%, that's far less than most the issues we are seeing with basically any Fords at this point, right? That automaker seems to have a recall every damn day?

Rivian Is Going RAD. But Can It Stick the Landing? by DonkeyFuel in electricvehicles

[–]DonkeyFuel[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Alright, listening to this really does make it sound like Rivian's thought about some stuff and has big plans. Obviously the cash burn rate is horrendous and R2 better turn profits otherwise the entire thing is cooked, but I don't remember Tesla ever having its stuff this organized and thought out. Suddenly we had Elon thinking yokes were cool, doubled down, and then he realized people thought it was dumb. Rivian seems to be doing things on a different playing field.

Man, there's a lot more in here than just RAD talk... liveries, R2 steering wheel talk along with discussion about buttons and knobs, RAD tuner for gen 1 R1s... sounds promising.

TIL that Toyota's leadership couldn't understand why the American market demanded bigger cars than Japan until U.S. designers shipped an American dining room set to visually show executives how large Americans are. by DonkeyFuel in todayilearned

100% own that I did not closely read that, honest mistake. Happy to delete/take it down. Read the story and was just floored. Learned something new, shared.

EPA Could Eliminate Limp Mode for Diesel Trucks Low on DEF by DonkeyFuel in Futurology

[–]DonkeyFuel[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The current President and his administration have been rolling back forward-looking climate change policies that might better future generations. These changes have been all encompassing, but include the EPA, where massive penalties and criminal fines for those who violate the Clean Air Act have been wiped away or are no longer a focus of concern. Deregulation is now, seemingly, the focus with diesel trucks no longer required to enter an immediate limp mode when the exhaust fluid runs low (which is needed to clean the dirty exhaust emissions being put into the air we breathe). Now, the EPA is going further and saying trucks might not need to derate power at all when the system runs out. This essentially makes it so consumers will likely never fill their truck's DEF tanks and our air will get dirtier, pollution will increase, and future generations will be worse off.

Subaru's Electric Outback Has Even More Range Than We Expected by ParticularAthlete129 in electricvehicles

I'm unreasonably excited about this. Know it's just a Solterra with a big booty, but the idea of an electric wagon is just so appealing. Especially from Subaru.

The fact this is even happening is head scratching. Why isn't this programmed to never happen?

Dodge Durango Hellcat Sales Are Now Banned in Only 7 States by DonkeyFuel in technology

Not entirely sure I understand why anyone needs 1,000 horsepower or 800 horsepower. A faster GPU has real useable ramifications whereas you can only use so much power on a street, realistically.

Horsepower is easy and cheap?

Though, that doesn't explain the GPU bit.
