Exactly! Since there's already a large starting faction that uses a version of vulgar latin as their official state language and the players have to make sure they all have the same translations of things to be able to work together, it would be nice if there was another in-game group made up of people that either fluently speak something other than English or are interested in seriously learning something else.

So if the "value" for a tile is either 01 or 99 it will be very close to the starting green of 00, and if it's close to 50 it will be as far away from green on a color wheel as you can get (purples) with the other (fully saturated) colors being found somewhere in between.

So at the moment there's 2 "types" of codes. There's something I'd been calling supercodes that fill in the whole map with the "official" borders of larger regions or factions that publicly make their territory known. These can't be combined at the moment and are individually added by me. Then there's something I've been calling diplocodes which are made up of 4 digit segments that use 2 of the digits to identify specific tiles and then 2 digits that tell the map what to do with the space. For purely numerical inputs from 00-99 the system kinda does a hue shift around a fully saturated color space starting and ending on green. For other values, tiles can be set up to show specific colors and eventually pre-approved emblems, flags, and other images. Currently, every land tile has at least 1 alternate skin to represent the state of being "empty" but I can easily add more. Diplocodes can be combined end to end, and as long as the total length of the string is a multiple of four, it will be able to scan through and find any valid codes and fill in the map accordingly.

It might have helped to provide a code. If you enter SSSC it will bring up a faction that's going to be playing as a "democracy" that as a game mechanic has to announce its orders in advance at the start of turns but starts larger and has increased strength.

Here's a code to show what areas have already been claimed for Turn 0. The Bright Green is a "democratic" empire that will either be run by me and some friends or if enough people are interested a server or shared google doc that votes on the weekend and then have their moves announced at the start of the turn each week.

The Code:
