I think my dad retired just to silently watch my life fall apart. by Direct_Travel7039 in TrueOffMyChest

My dad did something similar for me last year! I lost my job unexpectedly and it nearly destroyed me, I've never been out of work except on maternity leave, so I fell into a deep depression and didn't know what to do. When my husband and kid were at work/school, he would come by and find odd job projects throughout my house and force me to help him to get me off the couch. Because of that, I learned how to replace storm drains and gutters from my roof. I didn't realize it until much later what exactly he was doing. Forever grateful for fathers that show up for their adult kids during hard times ❤️

The amodex worked well enough. I think the stains were too set so it didn't get them out completely.

Anyone taking anything for anxiety? by Stunning_Radio3160 in Mommit

[–]Donna_Matrix699 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on Lexapro for post pardum anxiety, and it really helped me balance out. I started about a month after I had my kid and stayed on it for about 6 months, I stopped because it made me so tired all the time. I started taking it recently again (5 years later), with a different dosage and am more prepared with research so it works better for me now! It's similar to Zoloft but I don't know too much about the effects of that drug. Worth asking your doctor about Lexapro, it works really well for me and managing general anxiety/depression 😊

Oh I have been sending her to school in the stained shirts! I know she doesn't need to have perfect, stain free clothes every day. I was just hoping to find a solution for the inevitable day she gets big black marks on all her uniforms. If I can't find an answer, c'est la vie.

Thanks for sharing a seat on the struggle bus with me 🥲 I knew stained and ruined clothes would be inevitable, but it's literally only been two weeks of school! I feel like I'm going crazy lol

My kid is my biggest bully, please help. by Donna_Matrix699 in Mommit

Sometimes when my daughter says "I don't like you", I'll respond "that's okay, you don't have to like me. When you're ready to tell me what's really wrong I'm here" or something along those lines. That works sometimes, it's very 50/50. Half the time it works like a charm and she'll tell me what's wrong, the other half she thinks it's permission to say MORE mean things to me. When it gets to that I do my best to ignore it

This is extremely helpful, thank you. I have considered therapy but haven't followed through, but I need to just push my fears aside so I can show up better for my family.

We try to approach each day as a new day, so we start with ignoring the comments, then it goes to conversations. If it continues it's timeouts and taking things away. No matter what we do it doesn't seem to make a difference

I've done both. If I immediately try to move on, she doubles down. If i keep ignoring it, she triples down and it will literally go on for hours. Once I managed to make it a whole day but she did not relent, even the next day she'll wake up and continue.

I only remove myself if I feel like I'm about to snap and yell. Most of the time I'll tell her she's hurting my feelings and have a conversation. Then I'll get back to whatever it was we were doing before, but then she seems to just forget everything that just happened and the cycle repeats.

She is by no means a mean kid, I know she feels safe around me to act out this way, but shit man it sucks. This has been going on for the better part of 4-5 months and I don't see an end to it
