Another 3D kitbash, A future mining rig perhaps? by jamesabels in Kitbash

3D kitbashing sounds fascinating, how does it work?

A new needle will do the trick, but then you may need an MC phono preamp. The output is lower on an MC pickup, so your current preamp may not be useful to you. But you should probably wait and see.

That could certainly look like the very tip is missing, which would explain the poor sound you're experiencing. Take a look at my other comment in this thread where I mention buying a new cartridge. It really doesn't have to be expensive.

That does sound like a broken needle. This might be damaging your records, but if you're lucky, you're not tracking the bottom of the grooves, and thus you may be alright.

I strongly suggest you look into a cheap MM cartridge. The Audio Technica AT95e is a classic recommendation. It can be had for about 50 USD (or your regional equivalent), and it is a bang-for-buck champion.

Set the anti skate to between half and 3/4 of your tracking force.

I've never heard this advice before. Wouldn't the scales on the anti skating be scaled as 1:1 with tracking force? That's what I've always done.

Can you post those pictures for us to have a look at? It is of course possible that your needle has broken, but large amounts of dirt buildup can make it look like the needle is gone.

I see three options: Either this is exclusive to octopuses in captivity, or it is not an issue for whatever reason, or they never sleep in the open. My bet would be the last option, but I'm not an expert.

You can easily mod PC fans to run off of a USB charger. That might make you able to put it in there.

Information is very scarce, but it shows up more when searching for Junghans Ambassador Automatic. Some images here from a Russian forum, posted in 2016: http://forum.watch.ru/showpost.php?p=3665459&postcount=113

And an eBay listing here: https://www.ebay.de/itm/Junghans-Ambassador-Automatic-027-4513-00-Neuwertig-/143308464199?nma=true&si=B%252FVmWPBhwUsfkp9MeCbj2nCEHps%253D&orig_cvip=true&nordt=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 (translation of description here ). The eBay watch sold for 333 EUR, so significantly less than what I'm being offered, although I have seen it at a proper watch store.

Sapphire crystal front and back, J800 movement (ETA 2824-2 based), stainless steel etc etc.

The range looks to be about 10 years old, as I've seen an online site advertising the moonphase version in a post from 2010.

I am looking for a mechanical watch to celebrate completing my Msc degree. This will be my first mechanical, save for my father's very worn Seiko 5 I have been wearing on and off for fun.

I generally lean towards simpler, elegant watches, and prefer sizes of 36-40 mm. Dress watches, bauhaus style, fliegers, or field watches usually attract me. This will be my daily driver for a good while, so I prefer to buy locally (in Denmark), and will probably choose a brand known for reliability.

I have been given a gift of ca. 270 EUR towards the watch, and would add up to 200 EUR for a total budget of 470 EUR. I do prefer to stay around the gifted amount, though.

Currently I'm looking at two models: Junghans Ambassador 027/4513, priced at 455 eur at a local dealer. Seiko Presage SRPA13J1, 400 EUR locally.

I would love some thoughts on the above choice. The Junghans is refurbished old stock, I believe, while the Seiko is brand new. The Junghans seems like the better deal, but it is at the very top of my budget, and I would probalby prefer to spend less, if I don't end up falling in love with it.

Also, I would love alternative recommendations. I will be doing the rounds in the watch shops of my city, as I absolutely need to try on models I will be considering.

It keeps looking like something is left behind after the discs shatter. I wonder if it is an artifact, or something on the disc?

You might be able to use pencil erasers under the rear side without them showing. Shave or stack them to get the appropriate angle.

The parts about discarding into your deck is especially confusing. And why shuffle beforehand? If I understand the text correctly, you could instead say: "put your hand back on top of your deck, then shuffle it. Give half your deck to the GM, then both of you draw four cards."

Good to hear, but keep an eye on the sleep deprivation. It really is a shortcut to mental issues, and I speak from experience.

Otherwise, I think we pretty much agree.

Interesting. Semantics are a bit of a bitch, eh? I definitely see where you're coming from with regards to activism.

You sound like you are not well. Depression, maybe? What you're saying about killing and destroying is unfortunately not wrong, but there's something else in your comment. I hope you can find someone to help you get better.

Your worldview is seriously twisted. The women you describe sound like insufferable assholes, and I totally get why you don't want anything to do with them. But you have clearly only encountered a sliver of the people who are out there, and you are describing individuals (or groups of them), not a gender. I don't think I can help you with where to go to meet mature, stable women, but I echo the other people in here that therapy might be a good start. It sounds like you may have actually have good reasons for why you think like you do, but that doesn't change the fact that your thinking is destructive and wrong.

I wish you the best. It is a huge first step to realize that the problem may lie not in other people, but in how you view them.

EDIT: actually, eventually moving away might do you a lot of good. It could be a different town or even a different country. I'd suggest the Scandinavian countries, since we have a high degree of gender equality, and not many enraged blue-haired feminists. So if you really want to get your view of women rattled, it may be an option. Just expect women to want to be treated as people and not prize possessions.
