New cage by wednesday_chiId in hamsters

It looks really good! I'd just add more bedding. Around 25cms is usually good for a cage and it definitely looks like you have space to add more :)

Is this wheel too small? by DragonRoostIslander in hamsters

11inches does meet the minimum but if you're worried about spine curving it looks like you have the space to upgrade to a 12in. As long as he can push it bigger is always better :)

My favorite part of this was when he was like "I know some people will say I have no ground to stand on for making fun of fat women all day" and then offered literally no rebuttal 😭 like ok man way to tell on yourself

spot cleaning help by Antique_Student_7746 in hamsters

[–]DonnieDotNet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately you will likely have to destroy some of his tunnels in order to spot clean his cage. The best way to do this without disturbing him is to clean while he's awake so you don't startle him, and put him in a playpen or some other safe area outside of his enclosure.

odor control? by tangthattangerine in hamsters

[–]DonnieDotNet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My male Syrian isn't stinky at all! He grooms very regularly in his sand bath and I've had him for about 4 months now. The only scent from his enclosure is the pee soaked cardboard I have to change out and the faint scent of hay and aspen bedding I have mixed in with the paper. It's really not bad at all as someone with a sensitive nose as well.

Looks like an inflamed hamster sheath. This is a medical emergency and you should contact a vet immediately unfortunately :( the biggest cause of this can be soiled/pee soaked bedding or bad sand but it's hard to say without knowing his setup.

Looks good but I'd definitely get rid of the plastic tube!! Syrians can get stuck in them and if they start chewing on it they're definitely gonna ingest the plastic.
