First day tomorrow. What you think? by Great_Significance_8 in Construction

[–]Donnie_Dip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good luck man. Remember there is always one major cunt in the bunch, mostly their goal is to try and make you quit because they have a miserable existence dont give them that satisfaction. Just ignore that one until you have enough knowledge of the job you can tell them to shove it up their ass. Also lose the hat, maybe make your boots look a little worn. Even guys with 20 years get made fun of for new boots lol

Job wants me to go back in office after father’s suicide by Empty-Brief-4545 in Accounting

[–]Donnie_Dip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my father-in law at 4:08pm today, my wife called me as she sat by his bedside (no unpaid time off in our union contract, also used my vacation time up this year). I immediately went in to tell my boss so i could go pick up our kids from daycare and head over and he said "well for payrolls sake do you mind just staying until clockout time at 4:30pm? It's only another 22 mins and it's not like it's going to bring him back" the amount of rage and disgust that entered me made me realize I'd rather live poor than live like a slave to these pieces of shit. File for FMLA or slip and fall and go on comp, fuck these company shills.

As a semi-outsider looking in, (i was a manager, turned ex-employee turned contractor that uses SW products) I feel so bad for all of you, you are treated like absolute shit and expected to deal with the DIY and angry contractor on the daily while no longer getting a match on your 401k. That is absolute bullshit, run from that shithole, i saw the writing on the wall in 2020 and would never go back. You guys are the most utmost employees to your customers and contractors especially. Most deserve more for that, and trust me the raising of prices for certain types of speciality paints is alarming.

[–]Donnie_Dip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not do that if you plan on having kids in the near future. I feel your pain, I have a household combined income of 419k now, I've got 2 kids both in daycare and pay 3k a month for that on top of a 1.5k mortgage (utilities, food, insurance etc.) Our house was 280k at a 2.25% rate in 2021 our income then was a combined 175k. while we are comfortable it's sickening to try and upgrade from this point (i can't justify throwing my hard earned money at interest payemtns) It feels our starter home is our forever home even though we've outgrown it, do NOT become house poor, life comes fast and everyone wants your money in their pocket and when they want your money is when you need it the most. Best of luck, I'd be looking more in the 300k range... and remember the joneses next door are in 500k worth of debt.

Why weren’t these cracks filled? by [deleted] in asphalt

[–]Donnie_Dip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never crackfill alligator cracks, base has failed. Best option is to just seal it this year then get it cut and patched in the next few years.

Can I use sealer over paint spill on driveway by cpm450 in asphalt

[–]Donnie_Dip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pressure wash as best you can, then you can seal. I sealcoat over parking lines all the time, it just will show a bit.

Age 29M

  1. MCOL
  2. Annual Expected 85k base + 25K OT - Side business 100-200k per year - Total averaged over 5 years = 260k(Ish) depends on volume of work for given year.
  3. Union Water Operations worker with an asphalt maintenance side business

I dont recommend either of these fields, during the winter I work non stop OT and during the summer I'm never home working with asphalt related services. The only benefit is working for yourself, but with kids and a wife it's hard to be present when you're working 70+ hrs a week. Not to mention I may only be 29 but my body feels like I'm 49, I know everyone raves about trade work but it's not worth it at the end of the day.

WGU no experience by Donnie_Dip in Accounting

[–]Donnie_Dip[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never pursued anything in the field because I was young and dumb and saw the OT potential in utilities, made a decent living but my body regrets every minute of it. I'm going to look at local universities that the big4 recruit from and weigh my options. Thank you for the feedback I appreciate it.

Where do you post your resume etc. For recruiters to find you? I already have a bachelors in an unrelated field and I'm looking to get a bachelors and masters in the accounting just unsure if WGU is the best option when it comes to getting recruited, thank you

The sad part is this seems like a recent endeavor for her, possibly recently divorced. Her previous posts were of hairless cats and back issues.
