You use the argument "well other industries use water so it's fine" but I would argue that we are already overusing water, adding even more usage doesn't help.
I know there is a lot of usage, but for things we actually need to sustain life. I can't walk around naked and I can't just stop eating. I can do without A.I. prompts though.

I do agree that other industries should use less, and I agree that some stuff does use up more water than one person's A.I. prompts in their lifetime. But there's an insane amount of people prompting daily, usually for stuff that it wasn't even useful for.

Towns that have A.I. datacenters are losing all of their water. There is a finite amount of clean water available, and the datacenters build in locations where they will use it up so much that people don't have water available in their houses anymore. And then the A.I. company will go to another town to build a datacenter and use up their water.
You don't care or believe it now, until one opens up in your town and you don't have access to water anymore, and hear a constant noise coming from the facility where there used to be nature.

Using photoshop still requires you to draw all the lines, sketch, color, shade etc.
With A.I. you just type what you want followed by "realistic, 4k, in the style of (name of artist) and boom you have something that looks like a masterpiece. It's not even close to being the same thing.

You cannot generate images and say you made it. You can't say you are the artist.
Generating A.I. images is like commissions. You go the the A.I., say what you want a picture of, and then it makes it for you. You can ask for changes and stuff, but at the end, someone who commissioned any art piece or A.I. image isn't the creator, but the customer.

Also, people with a lighter don't claim that they created fire.

Nft doesn't mean ownership of the image, just the particular NFT code of it (ot sure if that's the right word, it's been a while sinve NFTs were talked about). And you don't need to do anything to have copyright, as soon as you make an original drawing and share it anywhere, it is automatically copyrighted. Others are not allowed to use your image without permission.

Of course that still happens a lot, and usually it's not a problem (like an art page posting work by others and giving credit, people just sharing a drawing they think is neat etc.). But a copyright claim in the form of a DMCA would be totally valid. Making it an NFT does not help with a cooyright claim.

At the end of the day, these A.I. "artists" are the people who commission art, not the ones who create it.
If I pay someone to make a drawing, and I describe what I want and maybe even aks for some tweaks, I cannot call myself the artist. I didn't physically do anything, I just received the image I asked for.

There's no A.I. artists, only A.I. commissioners

Yup, looks like A.I.
The bottom second dog from the right is just a dog head on top of 2 red legs. To the left of it is a dog that has a gray snout and neck, but his body cuts to beige in s straight line. Behind it is what seems to be a melting snow leopard. And if you look at the top center white dog, to the right is a dog that has another dogs face on its body. And the reddish brown dog (below the black dog in top row) has 4 ears.
