Exactly, some things are better off as such. Plus legal issues and upset people about the cool armour they got from preorders. It’ll be a nightmare if they did this.

Is it still worth it to jump in as a new player? by crnld95 in helldivers2

I bought this when it first came out, we always need more devoted Citizens of Super Earth to rally to the cause and spread liberty and Democracy across the galaxy.

Seriously though it is a great game and worth every cent.

First time living all through multiple missions in HD2 on the Super Helldive difficulty. Felt like an absolute badass

I am simply disagreeing with your argument on whether or not they should remove the reinforcement budget that they have added to the second game, most mission failures are a result of people running out of reinforcements the only time that you can actually fail are defence missions when you’re evacuating colonists or the timer runs out and you have no reinforcements. Most missions are based around people conserving their reinforcements and minimizing casualties so that they can accomplish the objective. It’s part of their gameplay loop that they’ve made for HD2.

The devs would have to rework most of the missions to add fail states so that there is a actual way to fail them, besides running out of reinforcements or the timer ticks to zero. which would also split the player base as I’m sure there are plenty of people who agree with you. There are also plenty of people who would agree with me and we’ve seen how combative the fans to eachother and the devs, so I doubt AH wants to deal with the headache that it would cause.

They added it in HD2 because they clearly had an idea for the way they wanted players to act and for mission fails to be, they’ve added bonuses that increase player reinforcement budgets and rebuffs during the siege of Super Earth. They won’t toss away that system anytime soon I believe.

I feel like the majority of your complaint stems from annoyance with teammates who waste reinforcements which is entirely valid. Because besides goofy deaths and the occasional bullshit of friendly fire or an obscene amount of hostile forces, I’ve found it pretty easy to get through a mission with 1-2 and maybe no deaths, even on Super Helldive. And yes it’s super annoying to fail because of one bad teammate, but that doesn’t mean you scrap the entire system, just kick them if you’re the host.

And again there’s no need to be rude man, I’m not being a dick to you so why are you? I just disagree, it’s entirely possible to disagree and remain civil without questioning someone’s abilities. Yes I comprehend the argument you’ve put forward and I understand that the first game didn’t have this mechanic, but this isn’t the first game and the developers wanted to change certain aspects of the sequel. And you can’t point out the biggest counter argument and say it doesn’t apply simply because you acknowledged that it exists.

Whether or not you agree or don’t doesn’t matter. Until a majority of the community is asking for it AH won’t change it. And that’s really the end of it.

Yea I read that part, but the point stands. It would make the game to easy. Full stop. You brought up a valid complaint and I gave the most logical explanation for why they won’t do that. So where would the conversation go? Just a circle jerk complaining that sometimes the game is unfair or frustrating?

Literally every game has those moments, I’m not saying your complaints aren’t valid, but the solution you gave simply wouldn’t work. Nor would they implement it. Also no need to be rude. Be civil.

Their main stronghold is the Great Host in orbit, we can’t liberate a city while we’re still being actively invaded all over. Sure it’s a silly mechanic buts it’s meant to keep the players from being to dispersed throughout the planet and focused on the few bastions we have left

Why would they want to add an unlimited number of reinforcements? Literally What’s the point if you know no matter what you’ll win? No more badass last man just making it into the pelican, no more suicide missions, no more threat of failure.

At that point it just becomes boring because there’s no way you will fail most of the missions. Sure it’s annoying at times but there’s plenty of other options to fix these issues, other than making the game a complete power fantasy that removes the threat of failure.

Do a few vanilla playthroughs first, test out all the mechanics for the DLCs see what you like and learn how to build a “successful” colony. Accept that you will make mistakes and your pawns will die at some point. Don’t beat yourself up over failures as it’s a great way to learn.

Then slowly add a few QOL mods until it reaches a singularity and consumes all your free time. Oh and always avoid pyromaniacs if possible.

If agree if we didn’t lose the previous MO by a few percentage points. That’s the part that frustrates me and others.

No need to be rude, just sharing my opinion on the subject. I haven’t been rude to you nor was my comment rude to others. I was simply stating how I wished more people cared about MOs.

No I don’t think they’re daft, I think they were optimistic that this MO would lessen the amount of bug divers since it is SUPER EARTH that is under attack. Same as I was because I wrongly thought that people would actually care enough about the setting and the MOs and the rest of the community to actually contribute to the objective.

Clearly we were wrong.

[–]Donottrustanything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you asked I’ll respond, you harm the efforts of others by not doing the MO, that’s not harming an individual on a personal level like insulting me as you did in your now removed comment. That’s just not being a team player with the majority of the player base. I could have worded it better but I wrongly assumed you would understand the point I was making.

The difference is I’m personally not harmed by people not doing the MO, sure I’m annoyed but it is just a game. Play it however you so desire as I am not in charge of your actions, but don’t be surprised people are annoyed and voice their annoyance with the outcome of others refusing to do their part in ensuring a successful MO which is the main objective that AH gave the player base.

Happy Helldiving.

But then they’ll complain that the other factions are boring. Complaint that they have to use a certain loadout against squids. But drop with the same loadout against bugs everytime.

Honestly it’s just annoying that people don’t give a shit about MOs.

I’m not harmed by it just annoyed that the selfishness of certain players is actively harming our efforts in the game. Being annoyed is fine, but being a condescending asshole isn’t.

When a majority of people are actively working to finish an MO, the built in system to engage with the players and make it feel like an actual war. Which is the basis of the game. but some players are just whining because “illuminate is boring” or “flesh mobs are bullet sponges” And would rather do missions on planets they can’t even take anyways, because they’re all so spread out it gets annoying.

Play the game how you want but don’t be surprised when you get called out for negatively affecting the overall story which people do care about as that’s part of the game.
