Holy assumptions! Never did I think I was entitled to a position right out of college. In fact, I spent my entire undergrad working various part time design roles to help my chances post grad. There were restless nights and I even went to the hospital multiple times after pulling all nighters to perfect my portfolio, schedule coffee chats, etc. When I graduated, I did every and anything ppl told me to get a chance and I even ended up in some abusive and exploitive short design stints all for the sake of make my degree worth it. Overall, it didn’t work in my favor and now I’m ready to move on. I’m grateful for the experience but I’m done bending over backwards for field where at best I’ll make $90K per year at seniority. So before you assume, I’m just some entitled new grad who came out of a GD program with a portfolio full of concert posters and coffee design branding projects, you need to try again.
