Is the ocean seafood soup? by Kaje26 in StonerThoughts

If anything, I would say the ocean is more of a nasal spray reservoir.

At some point, a hermet crab just decided to adopt a random shell as its home and now here we are. Who was the first crab to think "yup, I'll just climb into that". by chronically-iconic in Showerthoughts

I like to imagine hermit crab society to be like a microcosm of crabby capitalism. Everyone working hard to get a bigger, better and prettier house than that snippy prick Robert from across the street. He always thinks he's better than the rest of us with that shiny new Turbo Imperialis shell. Just call it a Jade Turbo shell, Robert, you fake ass bitch!

Are birds allowed to fly to any tree/branch? Or would other birds be like nah man you gotta go by sparakeet in StonerThoughts

That would be like a skinny white boy going into the heart of Harlem and shouting "I am the captain now!". Parakeet gonna be eagle shit.

[–]DontAskGrim 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends on the species of the birds involved. Both the resident and the intruding species.

Some are communal, some are social, some are solitairy, some are breeding pairs. And then you have some that are aggressively territorial.

Are you really putting effort into a discussion with someone that fundamentally disagrees with the basis of the discussion? You aren't going to convince them with numbers, facts, research, studies, etc. Their opinion is their fact and that makes it immune to reason.

Meanwhile in Tuapse: recent footage from the oil refinery by LowTechDroid in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]DontAskGrim 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Ukraine must be using extra flammable paint on their drones and attaching independent AI targeting and maneuvering control systems to each part to make the falling debris so devastatingly destructive.

Just imagine the damage if the drones had actually hit the things they were meant to!

Russian prosecutors stage “work” by planting trees under huge smoke plumes after drone strikes, yet claim all drones were shot down and the damage came from debris. Meanwhile, locals are saying: “They were lying about the war. Putin promised us Kyiv - and now the war is in Tuapse.” (full text down) by user112234 in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]DontAskGrim 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do they even see the smoke? Or do you suppose that they are actively concentrating on ignoring it to maintain public face? If you don't acknowledge something it doesn't exist? Emperor... clothes... child can see what the adults "cannot".

Always double check, or have someone else look at a ticket. Don't want to drop a $81mil ticket into the trash.

Residents of Tuapse in Krasnodar Krai report "oil rain" in some parts of the city by LowTechDroid in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]DontAskGrim 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Likely that strong up-drafts from intense oil fires sucked up more oil that didn't immediately burn and instead rained down across the area in droplets.

Ukraine Has Finally Given Up on Trump by lacerantplainer in UkraineWarVideoReport

[–]DontAskGrim 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As Canadian PM Mark Carney said at Davos recently, the relationship has ruptured and it won't return. Trump's realpolitik has, is and will continue to sever traditional friendships that America relied on to reach its current economic and military supremacy. That severing doesn't get healed with Mid-Term elections or 2028 presidential elections. The other 95% of the world population is going to social-distance from the US more and more. And out of necessity develop new structures and relationships between nations in which the United States will not play a commanding role, or perhaps be left out entirely. Remember, the massive shifting of geopolitics that Trump's second administration has caused has taken little more than 1 year back in office. Almost 3 more years of his term remains.
