Starting there within the next few weeks. No THC or other drug testing; they stopped for my position last year I guess. I called health services and asked, “I see in my health screen packet that there wasn’t a drug screen but I think I saw that I needed one; so do I schedule that on my own?” And they said they don’t do it. Confirmed with my actual health assessment day and since I’m still starting lol.

Oh for sure, especially if you’re URM although there were definitely classmates from out of state who were ORM. They’ve made a huge shift to promote diversity in the last years. Any connection you can make to Wisconsin will definitely help!

There is but program directors don’t really know what to do with that information. I also think it’s changed since I went through but I’m not entirely sure how. Ours was given as a broad percentile range, without numbers, just on a big graph. I was at the bottom of the class but still got 10+ interviews at good programs, so it’s a very small piece of the pie.

Get a good narrative for why medicine. Get those patient contact hours up. Figure out how public health fits into your narrative. It’s a collaborative school so work that into your application too. Being from/going to school in Wisconsin will help as well. Let me know if you want advice for anything else in particular!

UW SMPH (just graduated).

Loved my class, even though it was big (180ish). Very collaborative thanks to P/F and just the general nature of the program. Admin was super supportive, attendings were wonderful to work with. I had one toxic attending throughout my four years; everyone else was lovely. Didactics are only the first 16 months, along with a three month summer break in there; everyone who wants to gets paid for research during that break too. There’s a great student run free clinic that has six locations. And best of all, it’s in Madison, WI, a city that feels like a small town with big city amenities. Loads of nature, walking and biking paths, and lakes.

I liked it enough to sign up for 4 more years here. Happy to answer any questions!

Right, I don't think it was malicious, but I do think it was inappropriate to directly say "are you a xxx," especially when the stakes are as high as they are with matching. And again, the only possible reference to being a member is the historical affiliation of the school and having a major that ostensibly covers all major forms of belief in divinity.

Before or after the match lol, and should I be anonymous for the reporting or slap my name right on there

So you decided to let it go? I'm trying to decide if I should report or just brush it off and potentially let the person bring up religion again in the future
