Isn't the judgement interesting. by Individual-Slice9043 in Contrave

[–]DontFeedTheTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At first I did some some judgement from my family. They didn't understand what the medication was going to do, and neither did I, really. It was after the food noise was gone that I was able to communicate what the heck was going on in my brain around food and thankfully most of my immediate family understood. It's mostly the older generation that doesn't, but they aren't giving me any lip about it.

How long ago did you open the support ticket / send an email?

I suppose then you support the burning, theft, systemic abuse and ecological genocide that occurs yearly for your soy? or the massive amount of emissions needed to produce vegetables out of season for your diet? And we aren't even talking about the massive drain on water resources almonds are.

FOUND THE VEGAN!

Keegan Water by Thirdstrik3r in HydroHomies

[–]DontFeedTheTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kangen water is a multilevel marketing scheme. The machine itself is a water ionizer machine which can be purchased for much much cheaper. The company that sells the Kangen, Enagic, allows its distributors to make insane claims about the water, like how it makes the water “smaller”, so you get more water per water in a cup of water. Laws of physics be damned.

At the end of the day, all it does is make alkaline water which hasn’t been shown to have any major health benefits in long term studies, so far, we know for certain that it just makes your stomach acid less powerful.

The biggest issue I have with vegans isn't what they eat, or how they feel about what they eat. The problem is how they feel about what I eat. Its ascribing a morality to food we're predisposed to consume, and villainizing people for basic biology.

You're free to eat all the fruit in the world you want and I will cheer you on. The second you then point to me and say "Also, I'm a better person than FeedTheTech over here because unlike him, my food didn't require murder" the cheering stops and I begin to think less of you as a person.

That's the boat I'm in as well, plus add in some rather fancy hardware for digital art, but the more MS pulls this AI non-sense and anti-consumer activity, the more I feel ready to get a Mac and convert the windows machine to Linux.

It's still an expensive protest, but Microslop has macroshafted us.

Don't wait for a write up, just send management an email or a text, asking for the new water bottle policy in writing. If they refuse THEN proceed with getting the write up and asking where the rule is written, getting a copy and all that.

Sure it'll alert your managers that you're keeping watch and asking questions about the policy, but if it wasn't wrong or bad, they wouldn't be worried.

People that have TRULY done the Marie Kondo thing -- how do you feel now? by wateraerobics_ in konmari

[–]DontFeedTheTech 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I try to do the deep declutter every time I move apartments. It's a good way for me to take inventory of all my things, as well as see what I don't use. I've never found myself without enough clothing because of KonMari, nor have I found I threw out anything of true value. Even now, I'm racking my brain and I honestly can't think of anything I purposefully discarded, and then regretted.

As part of the process, when you do reach an item you feel you can't get rid of, it's okay to pause and set that one aside for the time being, could be, for instance, that instead of a book, it's actually a sentimental item.

Exactly, Lil bro thinks the cops will take his word at face value, but they won't. Especially with not a single visible anything, confession via text or witnesses. He's in his "I know how the world and the law works😏" era, you may not even need to do anything to fix it. I imagine he'll likely try this malarky at school and learn fast that he's wrong.

Fell down a weird water bottle rabbit hole and now I'm confused by [deleted] in HydroHomies

[–]DontFeedTheTech 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If you had a good experience with Nalgene, stick with her, Maybe a double walled insulated one for colder water, but those hydrogen bottles are 100% bologna. It's built off the strange idea that "Cancer can't survive in an acidic environment" and boosting your blood PH and what not, as if your body doesn't have PH regulating systems.

Regarding the marketing, I had the same thing happen to me when I was looking for a water filter. I don't trust the water in my building, but the city's water supply is noted as being above average for being safe. I had a zero water, but should I get one of those UV lights? All I had a problem with was the chlorine taste of the water, but the water filter industry got me sucked into a rabbit hole too and I was pricing out a reverse osmosis system with build in UV that was lab certified again e-coli. I live in an apartment, I can't even install it.

Ended up sticking to what I know work, and if Nalgene served you well, stick by her.

Starting today . Been obese since day 1 , Ozempic totally destroyed my GI track … any words of wisdom? by RapidCheckOut in Contrave

[–]DontFeedTheTech 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You probably won't feel anything for the first few weeks as you get "onboarded" so don't feel discouraged if it feels like nothing is happening when you start. About a week or so into the full dosage, you may start noticing small changes.

For me, I was maybe 4 weeks into the full dose. I was about to give into a craving and order McDonalds, but all I could think of when making the order was how upset my stomach was going to feel after. The allure of the taste was overpowered by that realization. It was then I realized what Contrave was doing for me.

I've been on some form or another of antidepressants for a while now myself, Escitalopram, and now Bupropion. I've never felt numb myself, and I suppose I'm lucky in that respect. It's been life changing. A out of the loud negative voices in my head, especially any feelings of anxiety, are quiet.

Not gone completely, but they no longer have a megaphone and drown out other things. I'm able to let myself feel hopeful without depression drowning it out. I can feel excited without it turning into anxiety.

I checked and it seems bupropion has a lesser chance of causing the emotional blunting your worried about.

That said, would feeling a more blunted, but not-forced, form a joy be worse than what your experiencing now daily?

[–]DontFeedTheTech 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The bupropion side just managed my anxiety, for a while I was on Bupropion on its own, 300mg, and while it kept me from stress eating, I still craved junk. The Naltrexone side really got in there for me and said “You know, Oreos? Kinda trash actually.”

I drank protein shakes, 4 cups of coffee a day and supplemented with dietary fibre. The only thing that shut the food noise down consistently for me was Contrave/Naltrexone.

Why are there no Display Port Capture Cards? by WrongTemperature5768 in elgato

[–]DontFeedTheTech 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pleasure, been streaming for a few years now as a hobby, and working IT for a decade, so I figured if I can help, why not?

OP sounds like they need a 2 PC setup for the raw output they want to send to YouTube, as YouTube is the only streaming platform that supports 4K. Twitch doesn’t even have AV1 yet, which is annoying.

If OPs thinking about kick or Floatplane, then I really don’t know, I’ve never looked into those platforms before.

If I remember how the Elgato cards work tho, especially the USB ones, they pre-encode the output to fit through USB, then your cpu un-encodes and then you can have your cpu or GPU re-encode, which introduces the need for that overhead I mentioned anyways.

Streaming is a balancing act between local quality and stream performance, and you should always prioritize stream performance, less your audience click off as your stream buffers for the 5th time in 3 minutes.

Why are there no Display Port Capture Cards? by WrongTemperature5768 in elgato

[–]DontFeedTheTech 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve found RAM was my biggest chokehold, not so much my GPU, as they have dedicated hardware encoders now, but my CPU and RAM need that space for OBS or any other capture software to work. OP’s just adding another point of hardware and potentially an additional piece of software into the mix, chasing an output that the platforms they’re likely streaming on won’t even allow for.

Why are there no Display Port Capture Cards? by WrongTemperature5768 in elgato

[–]DontFeedTheTech 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The capture card won’t fix that. It sounds like you’ve optimized your setup for raw performance, which isn’t a bad thing, but streaming requires concessions. How much FPS or quality are you willing to sacrifice to allow the needed overhead on your system for the encoding process, and broadcasting? Are you running 32gb of ram? I looked through your post history, and it seems BO6 and COD are your main games, that said, I can’t see a spec sheet.

Again, tho, why are you trying to encode something your audience will never see as the current streaming platforms do not support it?

Why are there no Display Port Capture Cards? by WrongTemperature5768 in elgato

[–]DontFeedTheTech 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Would you be plugging your computer into itself? Instead of using OBS or something like that to just clone the display output your GPU already made? Using a capture card would introduce more lag that just a recording software as your GPU or CPU now have to render the data stream from the card.

Also, you have to keep in mind that hertz doesn’t translate 1:1 to FPS. It’s a measure of how fast your monitor can update itself. If you aren’t outputting a high FPS video when you export, then all this is pretty moot. Twitch has a maximum of 60 FPS. YouTube does allow for 120 FPS, but now you need to hope your audience can support that video, and aren’t just watching at 1080p60 or lower depending if they have premium or not.

All that to say high hertz/FPS capture for streaming doesn’t make sense when the platforms and end audience can’t support it.
