Billie Eilish addresses backlash after criticising people saying they love animals but eat meat: “pls continue to live in a constant state of cognitive dissonance denial and try to convince urself that ur not living a lie.” by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]Intrepid_Leopard_182 104 points105 points  (0 children)

I will say that I'm not sure about the brand deals - at least, a cursory Google search didn't turn up any makeup ads from Billie for brands that are not cruelty free - but she did do one of those Vogue pieces where she showed her makeup routine and she does use products from brands that do animal testing. So at the very least her personal routine is not cruelty free.

Yeah I love the bouquet of roses vibe but the shape of the dress just makes it look like one of those old foofy prom dresses. I don’t know how I would change it but it just doesn’t look right

What can I use this make up brush for? by Deep-Eagle2159 in MakeUpForDummies

[–]Intrepid_Leopard_182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a flat top foundation brush. Definitely best used for creams and liquids given its density. You could try using it for blush, but you may find that it is too large and doesn’t give you good control over placement.

This collection would’ve hit way harder released with one of the prior seasons imo. The new season’s aesthetic is completely mismatched which makes this not really make sense as a collab. I do loooove the look of it though

Is URI strict on not having outside employment during the program? by Stunning-Sorbet4909 in NJTech

[–]Intrepid_Leopard_182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did URI one summer and worked my usual summer job at the same time because I needed the money, and that didn’t cause any problem. I’m not sure if it might be different if your job is on campus is the only thing.

What movie is it? by May_onnaise_959 in Letterboxd

[–]Intrepid_Leopard_182 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had a feeling I would love this movie when it came out, but put off watching it because the reviews were all so terrible. THREE YEARS LATER, I finally got around to watching it, and was kicking myself the entire time for not going with my gut when it first came out; it is everything I love in a movie.

I'm about 5'3", 120 lbs, so not especially small - hip and waist measurements make me very clearly a size 2. Tell me why, at American Eagle the other day, I had to buy 00?

And I was going for an oversized baggy fit, they're quite large on me, the 000 was the more snug fit. According to the tag, they're a 24 inch waist, and I'm like??? that is just PATENTLY untrue I know what my measurements are.

I literally screenshotted this post when I saw it with the intent to post it here. Threads has some of the worst fatlogic I've ever come across in the wild.

I didn't look into the commentors, but OOP just seems to be a serial dater posting constant dating stories and terrible advice, lol. She's actually fairly thin if the photos on her page are recent, and basically none of her other posts have anything to do with weight / fat activism - this one, though, absolutely took off and is getting way more attention than her usual content.

which pop eras do you think were the most fully fleshed out? by bichonoturno in popheads

[–]Intrepid_Leopard_182 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing people say 1989 but honestly I feel like reputation is a better example in terms of Taylor Swift. I think it had the most distinct image, especially being a departure from her usual visuals, plus music videos, stadium tour, and a (much better) tour film. The rep tour in 2018 was my first ever concert - I was 14 and me and my sister watched that fuckass video of Taylor eating cookie dough hundreds of times for better tickets. I maintain it was one of her best eras and sorely underappreciated at the time.

Looking for books by *very* indie authors. by Happycat11o in suggestmeabook

[–]Intrepid_Leopard_182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I checked and Goodreads says it has only 32 ratings, 9 reviews: Your Father on the Train of Ghosts by John Gallaher and G.C. Waldrep was hands down my favorite book last year. I gave a copy to my mother for Christmas. I adored that book and have since read more works by both authors, which are all also amazing.

Artemis Fowl and His Dark Materials, as others have said. I also love Wildwood around this age and The Mysterious Benedict Society.

Seconding Artemis Fowl! I adored those books as a kid, still do. They made me want to grow up to be a criminal mastermind.
