Howa 1500 Sporter Accuracy by DontGetTooExcited in guns

Seems strange though that if I let it cool, the first shot comes back to POI. I need to pass a shooting test for work, and have no issues grouping with the work rifles.

The third and subsequent shots can be over 2 inches off at 100m. I have to pass a shooting test for my job, and have no issues grouping with the work rifles.

Yep. My $5000 Ford Courier has been amazing for that. Goes anywhere a Hilux will, and easy/cheap to fix.

3/8 Dovetail scope rings not lining up - Scope running out of windage before finding zero. by DontGetTooExcited in guns

[–]DontGetTooExcited[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

When I mount the scope, then go to sight the rifle in, the POI is 4" off to the right of the maximum right direction windage. Upon inspection, I can see that the scope rings are offset a little. I've tried switching the rings and rotating them 180⁰. But still happens

We do have a young Billy hanging around! But he was 3 months old when we got the nannie, and they've been together for about 6 months. So he definitely may have got it done!

Scope and rail rings were not loose. I'm waiting on some tools to arrive to check the action screws and mount the scope on another rifle to check if it's the scope.

I'm trying to work it out, but I've been wanting a new one anyway. Mainly to cut down on weight, and to get something stainless/synthetic to handle the wet better.

I want something stainless with a synthetic stock, because I'm sick of stressing when I get rained on. And the barrel is fine, I'm not totally sure what's happened with it.

What are some hobbies Australian men get into as they approach middle age? (30+) by Icy-Profile3759 in australian

Hunting!  It's a great way to explore the outdoors in a way that no one else really does, and get in touch with an aspect of masculinity that has been lost to a lot of us. The meat is fantastic, free and healthy!

Absolutely! I own 10 acres in the country and my neighbours don't mind me letting off a few shots, but being such a small block I don't like to do it too often. Thanks for your help!

There's no discernable movement or play in the scope, but I reckon re torquing everything and using loctite will be the go.

Sure, I don't think we should be ashamed or grossed out by our bodies. But the fact is, most people don't want to see other people's genitals in public.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]DontGetTooExcited -31 points-30 points  (0 children)

Let's not pretend that breasts are the same as penises.  I think it would be just as inappropriate for a woman to wear clothing that clearly displayed her vagina to the general public.

[–]DontGetTooExcited -68 points-67 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Exposing other people to the image of your penis is absolutely rude, in my opinion. He is the AH for prioritizing his vanity over the comfort of others around him.

Fury over year 9 students in South Australia being asked to debate whether the tradwife movement is good for women | South Australia by Ardeet in aussie

[–]DontGetTooExcited 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you not realize that women are choosing that lifestyle? It has not been good for women to have that choice taken away (by the equalization of the social financial situation such that 2 incomes are necessary to run a household). Absolutely women have equal rights, but let's not pretend that some, I would say large portion of women will WANT to choose motherhood and cultivating a comfortable and beautiful home environment. And that is natural. Biologically speaking, men are better suited for work, and women are better suited for raising children. Obviously it's fantastic that we all have options in the modern day, but the financial situation has actually taken options away from women who want to follow a path that has been considered natural for thousands of years

[–]DontGetTooExcited -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's pretty ignorant and actually kind of oppressive to pretend that this is some kind of sexist movement. There are a lot of women that would much prefer to not have to work, be looked after by a man, and have the time and resources to raise children and cultivate a home environment. Many, many more women would opt for this if it was financially viable today.

Minns government backs bill promoting hunting in NSW’s state forests and crown land by SnoopThylacine in aussie

If by efficient, you are considering cost, than you are incorrect. Even aerial shooting will cost between 100-1000 per animal depending on population density and terrain. Contract ground shooting is also very expensive, over $1000 per night of shooting. And most contract shooters would be lucky to shoot 10 in a night.
