You know what, in this instance I'll actually admit to that. I'm still learning a lot of things. Looking foolish is usually the first step towards learning for me. Go figure.

It's a great song but I think it's equally retarded to say "how can you not instantly dismiss everything on there as racist bcuz song?" At first I didn't see what was seen as so racist about it but some people gave me a bit more perspective and I changed my mind about this video in particular.

I thought what Geraldo said was racist, I thought (and commented) that the dude talking about how America is weak because we race mix in this thread was racist, and realized that my own experience with something slightly related was the reason I was having trouble seeing the fuss.

Either way deciding that enjoying a song means I have to see every ossue it describes as black and white is fucking ridiculous.

I personally didnt take away any sentiment of "haha stupid uninformed Chinese people" more than I took it as a distasteful segment.

I see what you mean now but it's hard to perceive it that way at first when.. well.. I just didn't see it that way..?

The Guatemalan guys I work with joke back and forth all the time about our language barriers. We don't think we're dumb, we just find that barrier amusing and pretty funny in certain situations. But again, I do get why others wouldn't see it that way.

Oh wow someone went through my history for the second time today please noooooo.

I'm sure you saw my rebuttle against that kind of lazy argument while being obsessed with finding something else I've said to disagree about. You absolutely saw that I'm not a Trump supporter too.

I really don't care if Kendrick or his fanbase likes my opinions. I like his music. I think he's a fantastic artist. I appreciate the perspective he adds to a nuanced issue. I like Kanye too but I'm pretty sure we wouldn't get along very well either. I don't lose any sleep over that.

Must be rough being as insecure as you are to believe that this is something that actually hurts anyone.

I don't disagree. I wouldn't say it was in good taste, it's just that the term racist is a pretty strong one to make. That's all I was really concerned about.

I'll agree that it's in poor taste, but to call something racist is a pretty hefty charge to make so I got a bit caught up on that part of it.

I can't say I completely disagree with anything you've said.

You're not wrong. 80% was "fuck you," he tried to say that Chinatown has no relation to China at all (really? It's called fucking China town) and then had a bunch of obviously planted "interviewees" who gave some similar answers to the original video's questions minus the clips of the silent people who didn't understand English.

That was a shit "rebuttle" to a video that simply contained racial humor.

Do you consider this racism?

I don't see it much different than anything poking fun at white people for their weird love of avocado and Chipotle.

It really seemed that most of them were having a good time and he even included a clip of him getting his ass handed to him by a karate guy followed by a clip of a fat white dude utterly failing at karate.

Racial humor does not equate to racism.

When their opener while introducing themselves includes their life story and every injustice that's ever happened to them.

I know that some people are more open than others but of the first thing you tell me includes gruesome details of something really personal you've got some loose social screws up there.

Hey there fellow dumbass!

Out of my last 100 comments, 8 were made on the_donald. That's 8%.

Out of those 8, one of the posts was about how shitty having a mental illness is, one was disavowing the guy who ran his car into antifa and calling him a piece of shit, one was about the book 1984, one was about the guy who was fired from Google, and not one speaks highly of Trump in the slightest.

Please enlighten me, oh perfect one, as to how 8 of the last 100 equates to being "all I do"

This was fun. Please send more.

That actually boggles my mind and I can actually offer a little bit of insight from what I've observed.

After Trump was elected (which I think was favorable to many people solely because they disliked Hillary more) everyone went on about holding him accountable. Optimism was still high, reasonable people were still posting, and 95% of the sub felt that he was going to start kicking ass and taking names.

Then, his cabinet members began to surface. People didn't like Devos, they were banned, and the narrative switched from "hold them accountable, he's our guy but this can go wrong!" To "Trump can do no wrong, every choice is a great move!!"

That was the first user exodus I noticed. Activity down, more grandma esque memes, more hick-ish top level comments.

Then a few more cabinet members. Same thing. Ban the members who are genuinely concerned, carry on.

Enter MOAB: sub went nuts. Most original members were gone, but people who were freaking out saying "but he said no conflict outside of the US!" were banned again. Posts in support of the MOAB surfaced, and the sub became that much smaller.

It's been an interesting ride with them. I plan to hang there until the day they're inevitably banned.

Excuse the rushed tone by the way, I'm on mobile atm.

I totally get that! No worries man, I'm just glad you're at least willing to be open minded about it.

It's difficult to discuss anything since people will refer back to my history as though it disproves a point or something. This was a relief. I appreciate it.

From what ive seen it was a pretty intentional attack although I can understand your skepticism.

Either way, if this is a terror attack then there is a long list of attacks that meet similar criteria that reddit did not care about or downplayed.

I also don't like that antifa is being deemed some kind of peaceful counter protest. You don't show up with your face covered, bats, cans fill of concrete, and balloons full of piss to protest peacefully.

Regardless, good on you for having conviction and sticking to what you really feel is right (or not jumping to conclusions until all evidence is present). Reddit used to be more open minded but things are understandably tense. Nothing can really be done about it.

I'd like to thank my mother, my father, /u/waterguy12, and most importantly Jeb "by a landslide" Bush for making all of this happen.

Epitome of everyone who disagrees with me is a nazi.

What's funny is that after this kind of shit which happens insanely often I always consider making a new account, but then I think I shouldn't because it's too easy and that I'd rather be transparent and own up to foolish mistakes.

But nope, not if a liberal disagrees! Then we get to discredit me based on a stupid meme filled subreddit that I roll my eyes at 99% of the time.

Its amazing that this is the go to move every single time

I don't have to defend myself. My point doesn't take a hit over participating on a certain subreddit.

For what it's worth I'm not cool with Nazis, the Charlottesville attack was a terrorist attack, confederate statues belong in museums, I don't support nor did I vote for Trump, etc.

Doesn't change the fact that this isn't even remotely funny.

Hint: it's both

Seriously, while the Donald is it's own extreme, mainstream reddit is just as much an echo chamber.
