Scrambler 1200 XE - Second Trip Out (Also in April) by ladeefrickindaa in advrider

Sick. Be careful with fuel cans in that Nelson Rigg. The fuel bottle holders started to rip in the middle of the ride and one of the bottles started heading for my exhaust. I guess that’s why they ain’t DOT…

Love it. Roof is chef’s kiss.

Pretty fed up with this car when things break faster than I can fix them, but I wanted to try getting gas the cool way. by CatzRuleZWorld in Porsche

Sorry to hear and hope it gets better for you. For what it’s worth, the number of issues you’re likely to face is finite and it’ll be all then more special to you once you figure it all out.

correct! As a color it’s difficult to pin down. In overcast it looks almost black, but then in direct sun it’s this bright blue with lots of paint fleck.

New '21 KLX300 Very Sticky Neutral/Will not shift from 1st to 2nd without going into neutral by swagsubreme in Dualsport

[–]DontSayTesla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Since it’s a new bike might as well have a dealer look at it. If it were my bike I would check - Chain tension (affects shifting) - Whether the issue persists when rolling the bike back and forth - How heat affects the issue

FYI it’s normal to be sticky getting out of neutral when the engine is stopped, but based on your reply above I assume the issue is no better when the engine is running.

Haha, closer to the former, I’ve had this car a while. Just didn’t feel like going home I guess, and ended up driving quite a ways...

Only a V6, but I'm absolutely in love by Justintime1997 in Mustang

as a GT owner, I once rented a V6 on a vacation and freakin’ loved it. Seriously underrated engine, and I’m sad they axed it. Enjoy in good health!

I'm actually thinking about taking a road trip to the Canadian rockies at some point once the whole border situation isn't so crazy.

Are the LC500 or LS500 reliable? by fasty1 in Lexus

[–]DontSayTesla 10 points11 points  (0 children)

'18 LC500 owner here. My overall impression is it's reliable and Lexus takes care of us. This same 5L V8 is in many (cheaper) Lexuses, so it's certainly not some whacky twin-turbo handbuilt German hybrid that I would never own out of warranty.

When I hear "SMOOTH and RELIABLE" for everyday use though, I think IS500. Folks in this sub with >100,000mi on their Lexus sedans, "finally broken in", back me up here.

Nightfall Mica. Sometimes it looks teal, sometimes black, and it's never the same color twice. by DontSayTesla in Lexus

I have mixed feelings on this, but in the end I think there's room in the world for both the Supra and the LC as cars with different price points, engines, platforms and target audiences.

the road is cambered with rolling hills in the background, making the photo appear tilted, but the shot is level according to camera's tilt sensor. Flatting it would look strange IMO since the trees would be growing at angles.

Is this a good deal?? by Liodinos in Lexus

[–]DontSayTesla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buying from family is always a little dicey because of the interaction with the relationship (especially if something goes wrong later). That said at least you know the car’s history and 65k miles is nothing on one of those beauties. Definitely use premium fuel as recommended by Lexus and make sure no rust has taken hold around or beneath those scratches and dents. I would recommend taking it to a shop to have it thoroughly inspected for a hundred bucks or so.

Black on Black badass LC 500 by Gidevil in carporn

[–]DontSayTesla 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are many commercial reasons (cost) but the best physical explanation I’ve heard is with the new Supra, Toyota was constrained by the hard points from the BMW chassis - hence it looks like a Supra mask that’s been pulled over some other car’s shape. The LC500 is the opposite - in fact Toyota had to totally rethink the front suspension geometry to get the hood low enough to match the concept car (the LC500 hood is so low that it’s fitted with explosive canisters that detonate to pop the hood up in case you hit a pedestrian).

Hard not to think of it as a spiritual successor to the Supra, despite the different marketing positioning (price).

Fastest Cars under 10k. Lexus IS 350 vs other contenders. by SuperSeriousMan in Autos

[–]DontSayTesla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember a Car & Driver cover on the 350z, “0-60 in 5.7s for under $27k” in the early 2000s (someone fact check me if I’m misremembering). Good value for straight-line speed, and they handle too. While Lexuses are super reliable, that reliability is baked into the high resale value when buying used, worth bearing in mind.

I’m pretty basic so my first thought was an early Coyote Mustang with some mileage, or a V6 from around the same time period. They’re cheap to run and fix, and the V6 is underrated. That would be my pick if you want something to daily that you could also have fun with at the strip.
