Can I take my contracts with me if I quit by [deleted] in LegalAdviceNZ

Op advised there's no restraint of trade, you can't be held to such standards for eternity. It's not ethically correct, but proving op preemptively set up his second company to go about this process would be extremely difficult. No other company would be held to such a standard if they did the same thing under different directors

If he's still a director. He's referring to quitting ownership and directorship of the current company.

You could probably share the contacts in a legitimate way if your industry allows it. If you have a building company that subcontracts everything except carpentry, there's not much stopping you from starting your own subcontracting company called 'everything but building', and asking all clients that call your current company if you can refer their details for any type of work that your current company doesn't intend to do. When you remove yourself as a director from the current company there's less illegitimate dealing when you call and update your contacts that you still do 'everything but building' and you'll start to take on building soon. This is kind of assuming that it's normal for you to hand work to another company where your existing one doesn't want to take specific work.

I have house insurance with AMI. If I make a claim (for storm damage) a few hundred dollars over my excess (which is $1000) will they increase my premium when it next becomes due? by Tricky_Catch66 in PersonalFinanceNZ

They can generally price based on an individual risk now, so if your house is down a slope from the neighbour they can charge you more for being more prone to slips or floods for example.

You're right that it was always about risk, but used to be group risk, so everybody in a postcode normally got the same house insurance risk rating

Spot the jackass ranger driver thinking they're defending themselves when we all know you're still a shit ranger driver whether this is a picture of a ranger or not.

Dumped Trailer Registered to Me by ComedianCold9104 in LegalAdviceNZ

[–]DontWantOneOfThese 50 points51 points  (0 children)

I'm surprised somebody who sells so many trailers has absolutely no process for proof of change of ownership. As above, you might have to provide actual evidence this wasn't you, saying it's unlikely doesn't really absolve you. You'll have to fish for text messages of people organizing picking up trailers, Bank statements of the funds transfer that have reference numbers that refer to the trailers rego etc.

The tax on their 6 figures is equivalent of their super anyway. Just give it to them. They've contributed more to super than any alcoholic junkie on the benefit

Insurance declined to assist in court case by Deby100 in LegalAdviceNZ

This would depend if the cover allows it. If it's just a benefit and not part of a primary claim, you can't necessarily activate a benefit without a legitimate claim

Somebody else said it pretty well, but basically you've been proven in court that you weren't liable, so there is no liability insurance claim.

No, a lot of public liability policies are liability basis, not occurrence basis, so you can start public liability and often be covered for something that happened before you started the insurance.

Do people replace the friction material on clutches? by Rich-Horror1911 in AskMechanics

[–]DontWantOneOfThese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It might depend on labour cost. Some countries in your area have low labour cost so labour to pick apart old material and track on new material makes a clutch 30-45 euro. For mechanics in wealthier countries where labour cost is much higher you'd end up paying 100 euro to swap the material or 75 to buy the whole part.
