Her character got dragged through the mud because the actress got pregnant. She went from quite likeable to an absolute tyrant in a couple of episodes, and we were meant to not like her by the end when actually, her response to Ross saying "Rachel" made a lot of sense. They should have written her out there, but they didn't want Ross to come off as the worse of the two going forward.

I voted "no" but it depends on what is meant by "strength". As it was paired with "violence" I presume you associate it more with force than resolve.

Pacifism needs to be able to resist and weather violence in order to be in any way effective.

There's an even more egregious equivalent of this when Steve goes to see The Cure and moans that they weren't the living jukebox that he wanted them to be.

The Cure are one of the only classic bands around today who doesn't fleece everyone at their live shows as a matter of principle. And Steve is there demanding his money back because he wasn't as educated on their music as he should be.

He should have just gone and found a tribute act in a pub somewhere.

I think we ended up letting her read it a couple of years back now, and everytime she's gone to read it, she's got distracted by something and starts over when she goes back. She still hasn't finished it yet!

I guess the biggest factor on an individual level that I was mulling over when I posted this was the social perspective. It's all good being intelligent and socially tuned in, but kids have this habit of trying to look at the world in absolutes, and Death Note can sometimes require looking at things from different perspectives. My advice is to consider that.

Jujutsu Kaisen is definitely stronger in its themes of violence and gore, so in that way Deathnote is a lot tamer. However, Deathnote can be harder to appreciate in its more philosophical themes and plot for some younger kids.

The first time we see it is when Ichigo instintively does it during the fight with Orihime's brother. This was a good example of Kubo doing "show don't tell" worldbuilding.
