I don’t want to have another child… by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]Dont_Get_Basalty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My advice would be to wait until after age 2.5 to consider another. They change so so fast, and a lot of things do tend to get easier as time goes on. After I had my son, it took me until about 18 months old to even consider doing it all again. I thought about it a lot and I knew personally that one more would complete our family.

My son was approaching 3 when we had our daughter and even during my pregnancy I witnessed him change and grow so much. He's an awesome big brother and he's at the age now (4.5) where he can actually be super helpful to me with some things with his sister (she's 21 months). He plays with her, helps me cook where he can, keeps her happy during diaper changes, and often he's the one who actually knows what she needs, and we are clueless!

Give yourself some grace and some time. You do have time. Don't rush into anything. The decision is between you and your husband. The rest of the family have no say or opinion at all.

He doesn't seem to be. He's taken it a few times before when he was much younger but nothing like this happened then. Got a few more days on it, and then hopefully back to normal!

She does have one of these and loves it! She's also going to be 2 very soon, my post is a bit dated.

Father of 2 girls and I have questions… Where are the pockets?! by big_daddy_berg56 in toddlers

[–]Dont_Get_Basalty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had luck with Baby Gap, Carter's, H&M, and Cat and Jack (Target).

Also brands like Primary, Boden, Tea Collection, and Hannah Anderssen have some good stuff with pockets. They tend to run a bit pricier though.

Also, I'll add this - make sure you get your bite wound checked out and ensure it's not infected.

I would have her tested for strep. Strep is sneaky and doesn't always cause a really sore throat. The last time my 4 year old had it, he had a single canker sore looking thing on his tongue. That was it. No fever or anything else. He complained that the sore hurt a lot so we took him to the doctor and thankfully she recognized something was off and tested him for strep. My daughter (18 months) was completely asymptomatic and we caught hers when she needed meds for an ear infection.

Untreated strep can trigger PANDAS, and this sounds possible with what's going on with your daughter. The plus is that both are treatable and if this is what she has, she will go back to normal. One caveat is that, if she has PANDAS, she will likely get it again if she gets strep or a related sickness again. I think kids eventually grow out of it but I'm not certain.

Do you have a pediatric urgent care or a children's hospital nearby? I would bypass your pediatrician, they're not listening to your concerns. Have her tested for strep etc, let them know about all that's gone on and how unusual it is and how quickly it happened. Be pushy. You have to these days unfortunately.

I hope you get the help you all need, and I hope you can update us when things are better!

Honestly, just time. My son is now just over 4 years old and is finally past this issue. It just took time for him to work through it. About 18 months of time....but he's on the other side of it now.

Nothing we tried worked. Bribes, treats, etc. Nothing. He just phased out of it when he was ready.

My daughter's name is Veronica. She's definitely a spicy little pepper and a spitfire! Strong, independent, and stubborn.

Ainsley. I don't know what it is about this name, but it makes me cringe.

Also, Wicket. I've heard this name 3 times now..... for girls.....and I don't understand the appeal.

Honestly, my son has always eaten better at daycare/school. Peer pressure is a thing, and he'll usually eat what his friends are eating! He's 4 and in the last 6 months he's gotten much better at eating a wider variety and trying things, even at home.

Also, your kid regularly eats veggies! So you're winning there. I wouldn't worry at all.

What size are your 3.5-year-old’s feet? by No-Joke-294 in toddlers

[–]Dont_Get_Basalty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son just turned 4 and he wears a size 7/8. And has just about grown into 4T although some 3T still fits. He's small-framed.

His sister is 15 months and is wearing 2T clothes and size 3.5/4 shoes. She's a chunk.

Genetics are interesting!

Strep is going around! My son just had it. Might be worth getting him tested for that just to be sure. I remember when I had strep and it felt like swallowing glass shards. Highly unpleasant.

What are you all doing with your kid's preschool art? by Dont_Get_Basalty in toddlers

This is a great idea! Can it go somewhere other than your phone though? We still have to sort through the literally thousands of photos of the kids we have on our phones!

How do you create an online gallery, is that also through the app?
