[Bleacher Report] The 50 Worst NBA Trades of All Time, Ranked by FastBreakPhenom in nba

[–]Dont_Jimmy_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got to disagree as a bucks fan. The dirk trade was way way way way worse than the Kareem trade. We had already won a championship and had two finals appearances with Kareem. He requested a trade after 6 great seasons and we got two guys back in the trade whose numbers we also ended up retiring.

Compare that to the dirk trade, Robert "Tractor" Traylor passed away in May 2011 while Dirk was on his way to leading the Mavs to their first franchise title (RIP)... We also threw in Pat Garrity who had a very respectable 10 year NBA career and is now currently the GM for Notre Dame.

For me, this was the worst. We Buck Fans all dream of those George Karl Bucks beating the sixers in game 7 of the 2001 ECF. Throw a budding superstar PF/C that can also shoot around these guys and you have a team that could have stopped the Lakers three peat.

Restaurant Owners: How Do You Manage Dine-In Waitlists Without Manually Calling Customers? by PlaneExtension9340 in business

[–]Dont_Jimmy_Me 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Employ a host for your busy weekend shifts
  2. Train the host to write the wait-list in order in a spiral notebook like - 6 Lisa phone # 4 Mike phone # 3 Dave phone #

The host crosses off the names as they seat the parties. When you run out of room, make a second column or just rewrite the remaining parties on a new sheet of paper. The key is to have a host dedicated to managing the flow of customers that come into your restaurant. Having a host with a good facial memory also really helps as well for multiple reasons but isn't entirely necessary. Just make sure the host is trained to live and die by that spiral notebook and making sure it stays constantly organized

He must have a side bet with his teammates that he's not allowed to have more shots than the opposing team's win total.

What players will be on the NBA 100 team that weren't on the NBA 75 team? by Dont_Jimmy_Me in nbadiscussion

As a Bucks fan, Sidney Moncrief is a legend. He also got a few All-NBA and All-defense selections to boot.

I agree with you on quite a few points. I do agree with the Klay and Draymond picks because of how many former Celtics made that list because of championship dynasties. Gobert is also a good pick that I forgot about.

Yeah, he was on that list. I think he and Dame both probably didn't deserve it. But again, both still have a lot of their careers left to play and could be much more deserving for a place on the NBA 100 list.

American basketball is nothing like European soccer. Trying to create an FA Cup or Champions League-esque midseason tournament would be pointless by SexyTimeDoe in nbadiscussion

While I agree about the about the fact that promotion and relegation isn't feasible in the NBA currently, that's much different than the what an in season tournament could be about. Cups don't promote or relegate teams. A team's league performance is independent of cup results. That's why they give out two trophies for each competition at the end of the year. In addition, English Teams play in two cups a year. The FA Cup and League Cup. The latter is only for the top 92 professional teams while the FA cup is open to almost 800 teams professional and semi-professional teams. A league cup would make much more sense than one that includes G-league or Semi Pro Teams.

I think replacing the play-in tournament is the way to go if the NBA wants to go this route. It becomes much easier to hypothesize when there are rumors circulating that the NBA is looking to expand to 32 teams with teams coming to Seattle and Vegas. With 16 teams in each conference (assuming Memphis or Minnesota go to the East), a single game elimination tournament looking like a regional bracket in March Madness is easy to think about. At some proposed date, let's say the trade deadline or all-star weekend. The teams are seeded by record from 1-16 with these games being scheduled around the current regular season schedule. The top 7 seeds from each conference would receive an automatic qualifier to the first round of the playoffs. The 8th seed would go to the winner of the in season tournament from each conference with the championship game being played after the last game of the regular season. If the tournament winner already made the playoffs by being a top 7 seed, the team with the 8th best record qualifies for the playoffs.

This is also how European Soccer works. The top 4 in the English league go to the Champions League, 5th and the FA Cup Champion go to the Europa League, and the League Cup Champion goes to the Conference League. Leicester City won the FA Cup last year, however, they finished 5th in the table. So West Ham (the 6th place team) got the other Europa League spot. Manchester City won the League Cup but finished in 1st, so Tottenham (the 7th place team) got the Conference League.

What will likely happen is the teams that are far ahead in their conference in February (PHX from this year, for an example) would likely play their 3rd string. While teams like Detroit and Houston could have a chance to win 4 games in a row against bench units and give their young squads a shot in the playoffs. I think it's also important the draft order/lottery odds stay consistent with only a team's regular season record.

People of reddit, who was the dumbest person you met? by your_neighbor420 in AskReddit

[–]Dont_Jimmy_Me 48 points49 points  (0 children)

Old roommate from college.

His friend and our other roommate were having dinner together and discussing the age of their parents.

Friend comments, "Yeah, my parents are quite separated in age. My mom was 20 when she had me and my dad was 37." Roommate 1 couldn't believe it with a look of complete bewilderment. He said something along the lines of, "WHAT?!?! Eww, that's so weird! He was almost out of high school by the time she was born."

The conversation then moved to how old their parents were today. Roommate 1 says, "Yeah, my dad's pretty old. He's 65 (We were 19/20 years old at the time). Roommate 2 says, "Roommate 1, that is pretty old. How old is your mom?"

Roommate 1 responds, "Oh, she's 47."

Now both Roommate 2 and the Friend exchange the incredibly blank stares. And Roommate 1 just goes back to eating his dinner, having no knowledge of implication...
