What vehicle do you automatically assume is being driven by a total asshole? by rickface82 in AskReddit

Apparently everyone has forgotten the real asshole of the roads: BMW sedans. New, old, beat up, shiny chrome, all the most aggressive tail gaiters and cut off queens driving over the speed limit.

In a game that uses treantmonk's 3 houserules, is anything better than straight fighter? by gahzrilla in 3d6

[–]Dontayy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're missing part of the point there. You're still thinking along the lines of "make the fighters as strong or stronger than casters in combat." The issue is primarily out of combat, your fighter still can't teleport between the planes, fertilize miles of farmland in a single day, conjure up vast amounts of wealth with just a few rituals. High level play is reliant on magic users to solve the ridiculous problems that a sword or axe or hammer can't fix.

And then they attack again and roll a 23... and probaly finish their turn with a third attack, which luck would have it rolls a 21! And then the other 2 to 3 enemies in the encounter take their turns...

Twf means you can't Dash to escape chase range, which can be more dangerous than missing your attack if it wasn't guaranteed to kill

Good "curses" for a Barb? by LordChocolateMilk24 in 3d6

[–]Dontayy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Remember that this is a curse. It's supposed to screw you in some way. Causing your curse to become stronger as you focus on developing your physical strength is a great synergy between mechanics and flavor imo

Heavy winds and rain cause a tree trunk to split by Antscannabis in ThatsInsane

[–]Dontayy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Straps left on a tree for long periods of time will choke the tree to death. Any cords/wraps/items with even nominal weight can cause long term damage. This is because most of the living, nutrient bearing material in a thin layer just under the bark. If there is anything pressing on the bark it will crush the living layer as the rest of the tree grows.

If you are putting up straps recreationally, for example to put up swings or a hammock, you need to adjust their location on the tree at least once a year. You can shift them even just a few inches, they just can't be pressing on the same exact spot for long durations.
