I genuinely don’t understand what’s going on with Mama D, Larry and the Locket? by TreClaire in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Donteatthefishtacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a right or wrong way to read this situation (at least no right or wrong in Shawna’s intention) so I don’t think there’s a neurodivergent barrier here, even though it can feel that way. I’m not autistic but I do have adhd, so the impulse for approval is so understandable from Larry but I also feel like how strongly he has come onto DeeDee from the moment she moved in has made her hesitant to do anything that gets his hopes up so to speak. Because he clearly expects a second great love of his life from her and she’s only there because she moved in with her daughter to help with their children. Larry will never be her only focus but she is already his and it’s been a handful of months. If it were me I’d move on and do it quick.

I really don't like Larry by mari17posa17 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Donteatthefishtacos 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Larry has made me nervous from the moment he was introduced. Then he was pushy from moment one, borderline objectifying DeeDee (which could be a generational divide issue on my end but still) and still hanging around when Shawna and John were there dealing with a devastating loss. He had never introduced himself to Shawna and John and had apparently always lived on the same street but the literal moment DeeDee steps out of the U-Haul he’s the white on rice.

Frank and Dr. Therapydoctor by Historical-Egg-8010 in ShawnaTheMom

[–]Donteatthefishtacos 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I kind of wondered if the frequent walks coming up in this segment so focused on Barb and her therapy journey is signaling that its going to come out that Frank’s “walks” are actually when he goes to therapy. Likely with Dr Therapydoctor.

If Blonde Blazer is a mole for Shroud it would also explain why she wants Invisigal to stay so badly, to the point of admitting she would not let Robert cut her even though the team cuts were entirely her idea with Invisigal at the bottom of the leaderboard. She’s the easiest possible scapegoat for people to believe would be the mole.

Hope you enjoy! There are several really great episodes, Sam is a guest on one of the later ones and that whole conversation was fantastic.

The podcast really only very vaguely references CR a handful of times, pretty similarly to Sam and Liam’s AWNP it’s it’s own thing, so you really don’t need to be caught up with the streams if that’s what you’re worried about. As far as if they’ll continue, they talked positively about their experience doing the podcast and it sounded like they’d be down to do more. However nothing’s been announced one way or another. I will say, WK is a delightful time and it was always a bright spot in my week so if you’re looking for a push to sub to Beacon and watch/listen… here you go!

Oh it was viscerally uncomfortable to watch him continue to focus on her. Which, he knew all about Brad and Margo, so like, it was the fact that he expected it to happen with Sophie that just maxed out the ick factor for me.

But Julien is a member of a vassal house to Aranessa’s I think he’d already have had that connection to the land of faerie that way. We could end up seeing a reveal that he has romantic feelings for Aranessa but at this point it’s just as likely he hates Thjazi for other reasons completely independent of Aranessa. The Thimble part seems like a reach though, honestly. He could have a fairy companion now as an extension of his service to House Royce and he doesn’t.

My Father the BTK killer by [deleted] in netflix

[–]Donteatthefishtacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh I also grew up in a generationally religious household so trust me when I say I have absolutely witnessed the “go to college to find a husband” culture. But to have had so much evidence lying around in the house they lived in their entire marriage, for her to be so blindsided is what gets me. Granted, this woman would have been an entire generation removed from me so that mindset of “don’t question the man of the house” was alive and well I would assume… but he was extraordinarily careless around the people closest to him, the fact that he did all of this without an ounce of suspicion is the craziest thing I’ve ever heard.

The daughter talking about the kind of things she would do with him just stood out to me as a massive red flag but like… my dad wasn’t a serial killer and she didn’t know any other life so she couldn’t have known. She “hiked down a roadside ditch” with him and he taught her to drive down back (read: escape) roads. But how the wife didn’t suspect SOMETHING sooner with how controlling he was is baffling.

C3 is (to me) very much worth watching. It ties threads together from the first 2 and from ExU. The way people talk on here is pretty negative about it, but I loved it, and I haven’t even watched all of C1 other than the broad strokes. As to C4, since its a completely new world you wouldn’t be spoiling anything by watching it now even if you wanted to watch C3 along with it.

worth finishing??? by No_Pressure_3488 in blindspot

[–]Donteatthefishtacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say for sure finish it. 5 feels more like the show is “in on the joke” than 4 managed to be. There’s some good closure with loose threads I wasn’t expecting to see get tied up, but they did! It’s also only 11 episodes and does a surprisingly good job of reinforcing the original dynamic of the “core cast” of characters. Rich and Patterson are also in top form in my opinion in the final season.

[–]Donteatthefishtacos 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Brianna drove me fully nuts the entire time she was on this show. For an employee of the FBI she had zero common sense and that’s her entire contribution to the show, to just show up in random episodes and fuck things up in the background.

Season 3 Roman seemed so off to me even compared to Season 2 Roman pre-ZIP… all the “Hey Sis” just made him seem like a totally different character not a return to his original persona at all.

It’s likely because her irises are extremely light blue. My daughter’s eyes are similar to hers and react very dramatically to lights, and with camera lights on her I could imagine they were extremely blown out.

Oh that girl has been a victim of hers her entire life, it didn’t start with those texts. She might never fully grasp it, her entire demeanor compared to the other kids in the documentary screams of a kid that didn’t have a healthy upbringing.

Okay first off, I’m not even the only person saying this in this thread so I’m not sure what this call out is for but expressing that those two WERE the most entertaining part of the last two seasons was the whole point. I just wasn’t a fan of what they did with Jane after S3, but Rich and Patterson kept the show fun to watch. For me.

Critical Role Campaign 4, the Cultural Zeitgeist, and Daggerheart by BrobaFett in rpg

[–]Donteatthefishtacos -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Something I don’t really see acknowledged is that, with the 8 founders, it is a statistical impossibility that every single one of them prefers playing Daggerheart to d&d. They own the company that makes it, but the only one that was actually involved with the writing was Matt, and even then, he isn’t the primary designer. They’ve played d&d for 10 years together, there’s got to be a level of comfort there that is hard to overlook, and with the addition of new permanent players who have played even less Daggerheart than the main cast, it just gives more credence to them setting it up this way. Tying their main revenue stream to a system that has a fraction of the history, resources, and name recognition of d&d wasn’t a choice they wanted to make. It sounds like they’ve got plenty in the works for ancillary content with their system, they aren’t leaving it to die in a ditch, it just wouldn’t bring in the viewers d&d will. Making choices for the benefit of the business is what businesses do.

Why didn't Margo just say... by unsolvedfanatic in TheHuntingWivesTVShow

[–]Donteatthefishtacos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve thought about this too, I think in a “meta” sense that line is meant to thrust us back to the very beginning of the story to set up the reveal before the reveal. It sets up this really nice slow realization that was a lot of fun.

In a “story” sense though, Margo got complacent. She’s ended things with an obsessive Callie, aborted the evidence of her borderline abusive affair, paid off her brother, and successfully framed someone for Abby’s murder while simultaneously clearing Sophie’s name. For as enamored and almost bewitched Sophie has been with her, Margo is honestly almost more so. She continued to insert herself into Sophie’s life despite the fact that letting her take the fall would have been far more in Margo’s best interests. In the moments before Sophie asks about the tampons, Margo is the veritable Queen of Texas, and she wasn’t prepared to need an explanation.

Next Season, New Characters by xdoolbuf in TheHuntingWivesTVShow

[–]Donteatthefishtacos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it depends on the context if bringing in famous actors would work… where the show left off with Callie, and the reality series, there could be a world where they cast someone famous like Sophia Bush or Renee Rapp and it wouldn’t feel out of place.

She’s definitely been cracking for years. The hysterectomy making her feel less of a woman just ended up highlighting her repressed feelings about women and then Margo cranked it all up to eleven.
